WWW.URBANCECOM ---Award-Winning DJ NG ---
URBANCE: Devised in 2004 by DJ NG, the word URBANCE, in its simplistic form is a term used desribe a music style and club scene that is based on the fusion of primarily 'URB'AN & D'ANCE' music styles. (House, Garage, Grime, Electro....)
In December 2004, the highly versatile DJ NG won the midland's most reputable DJ competition @ The Empire super club (Milton Keynes -see flyers). Since then, he has been booked by many of the UK's top Urban & Dance music promoters within the UK's top super clubs. With bookings from UK Garage's Club Sidewinder, to London's Underground House event, Red Carpet, DJ NG's presence in the club scene is frequent from the bookings he chooses to play at.
The S.W London born Eurasian has witnessed diversity since day dot, both musically and culturally through his diverse, British/Malaysian/Spanish background and from living in a highly cosmopolitan environment.
In september of 2000, NG left London to pursue his inetrests in music and completed a BA music & business degree in 2004 whilst at Northampton university. It was here that he completed a 12,000 dissertation in UK Garage, analysing its history -starting from form New york's influential club, 'Paradise Garage' (with its resident, Larry Levan) ...... all the way into its developments into the UK genre of 'Grime'.
*(For a short introduction to Larry Levan and the legendary club that he played in... see video below)

Whilst studying in N'ptn, NG juggled his evening time with promoting and DJ'ing to earn himself a reputable DJ status within Northampton and its surrounding regions. It was during His last 3 years at N'ptn, NG formed his own promotions company with two good friends, that brought togther some memorable and record breaking nights.... including The official university Summer Send Off, in 2003, 2004 & 2005 -starting off at their small student union and then moving on to capture at "Time and Envy", (Now Lava & Ignite) N'ptn, (see flyers) being the first set of independent promoters to be granted the opportunity to take on a club night at this venue for 4years!
Leaving Northampton with memorable events & times, NG decided to settle back in London. However moving back, he realised that he would be starting from near enough scratch in terms of 'branding' and fan-base and was 2 steps back behind many other DJ's trying to break through in terms of promotion and branding.... Thus decided to get back into the radio scene and slowly climb the ladder agian.
Starting off a new promotional campaign in London, he decided to join North London's infamous Y2K FM 90.6 (previously Mission FM 90.6.... a frequency that helped spawn the foundation of the of the Heartless Crew, DJ EZ, Luck and Neat, Miss Dynamite.... to name a few).
To increase his coverage, NG also held shows on South London's Select UK 89.6 FM and gained residencies for many promotions across London.
Now, his current efforts towards 'studying' and promoting have been directed towards the current fragmentation of a new 'youthfull' club scene/underground movement (of so called 'deep', 'afro beat' or 'funky house') that has taken place in London since summer '05 (arguable)...........a scene that has gained a prominant position with the London club scene.... a scene that has broken off from the traditional Garage and House fraternity..... a scene yet to be acknowledge by the mainstream.... and a scene yet to be described correctly.....
From this, NG has been concentrating his efforts to look two steps ahead of the trends of this new movement. -Trends similar to what he studied with the developments of US House/Garage into our own: UK Garage.... developments that helped spawn our current off shoots of UK Garage we witness today -such as: dubstep/foward, eski, sublow, breakbeat-G, 2-step, 4x4/Niche/Bassline House.... etc.
Excited about this new development, NG has taken more of a 'back seat' from his DJ'ing work within clubs and bars and has been focusing on his studio work, developing a new underground hybrid of housey/garage style production. Production aimed to suite this new 'underground' movement that will be released on his new label 'URBANCE' just after the start of the new year (2007). His first release titled "Tell Me" in which is best described either under the "UK Funky" genre or his personal style of "Urbance".
Aside from helping this sound to progress through his studio work, DJ NG is also a pioneering figure behind the concept of "URBANCE" - the fusion of DANCE & URBAN culture and music alike, which holds concepts to his way of life and thinking. ie. "The Cake Concept". see the webiste URBANCE.com for more info on this... or Lock into his live shows on www.rinse.fm, 100.4 fm (London) Fridays 5-7pm. GMT

NG's ability to assess the tastes of croweds has been sharpened through by 8 years of DJ'ing in clubs and bars. With a variation of mixing skills from 'smooth blending' to dramatic 'cutting and chopping', DJ NG stands strong amongst the worlds many-other tasteful vinyl mixing specialists. As similar to his variations in mixing styles (dependent on the music he's playing, his audience and the mood that he wishes to set), DJ NG's record selections are just as broad from end to end.
From such an array of different styled bookings, NG has chosen to bracket himself not in a single music genre, but instead to develop the term Urbance to wholly balance himself between all the music genres that he plays and appreciates.
"My tastes in music have always been varied both as a consumer and as a DJ, so there came a point as a DJ that I felt I had too many identities with all the different types of music I was playing. Thus, instead of using different aliases to suite each style/scene/crowed, I devised the term "Urbance" to categorise myself wholely, balancing myself between all the music genres that i play and appreciate and still allowing myself to maintain my musical diversity."
It may be said that within his DJ'ing role, DJ NG wears many different musical hats depending on what style of promotion he is booked to play at. -it is only within Urbance that you can catch him in his true essence doing what he loves and knows best
