About Me

.. MySpace Layouts I'm a screenwriter/researcher/script editor working in the Canadian television industry for over 10 years.
I graduated with honours from Algonquin College's kickass Television Broadcasting program. It was there that I discovered a synergistic outlet for my technical aptitude and my creativity.
I grew up a "military brat" which means I've lived all over... but I call Halifax home.
So far I have travelled to 7 countries and lived in Germany for 4 years. I love learning about other cultures and meeting new people.
About My Name: Yeah it's the real deal. Pronounced like "Cindy" but hopefully a little more interesting.
Aliases: To name just a few... SinDer-Do!, Big D, Louie or OceanMoon.
Age: I'm old enough to know better and too young to care.
Gender: I think Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis said it best "I am a woman above everything else."
Nationality: Proud to be Canadian and a Maritimer to boot!
Personal Mantras: "What's done is done. Carry the lesson, not the burden", "Do as you will an' it harm none"
Motto: My family has long ago adopted the motto "We're here for a good time, not a long time." It's not only a good Trooper song; it's words to live by!
People Who Inspire Me:
* Jann Arden, a woman wise beyond her years.
* Bono who shouts his beliefs from the rooftops and puts action behind his words.
* Military personnel, firefighters and the like who put others' lives and freedoms before their own.
Oddest Habit(s): Compulsive hand washing, and scrubbing fruit/veggies 'til they bruise. Who isn't a little neurotic?
Pet Peeves: Rude people, whistling/humming, repetitive noises, repetitive noises, repetitive noises. *grrrr*
Combat Training: Oh yeah! This Slayer Potential is ready to kick some demon ass!
Unique Talent(s): Can touch my nose with my tongue AND put my whole fist in my mouth, but not at the same time. How do we discover these "talents" anyway?
What I Wanted to Be When I Grew Up: A spy like James Bond. My parents however were early to recognize my destiny. They thought I would be a journalist.
Reason for Becoming a Writer: I've been making up stories since early childhood and I've been writing them down since I learned to hold a crayon. It's part of who I am. I love seeing the characters in my head come to life on the page or on screen.
Biggest Writing Influences: Joss Whedon, Chris Carter and Amy Sherman-Palladino

My Interests

----------------

I am a lover of film, books and photography.
I am passionate about writing - screenplays, poems, stories and the like.

I am particularly interested in books, films, tv shows involving vampires. My favourite vampire in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles is Louis de Pointe du Lac. I only wish more of her books had involved Louis.

I have a deeply personal interest in the paranormal, the mystical and the power of the earth's elements. Yeah, yeah I know what you're thinking, but I'm not flaky I swear! ;oP

I also love camping, nature and just hanging with friends.

Favourite Quote(s):
* I'd rather make a show 100 people need to see, than a show that 1000 people want to see. ~ Joss Whedon

* The world is but a canvas to the imagination. ~ Henry David Thoreau

* Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. ~ William Wordsworth

I'd like to meet:

I'm interested in meeting other writers, film/tv industry professionals or anyone who has similar interests.

If you are sending a friend request, please zap me a little message to tell me about yourself or why you want to add me. It helps to sort through the people trying to sell you crap or people just interested in naughty chat... cuz I'm not here for that!

Music:

I can't say I like one genre of music over another. Music affects me on a visceral level. It all depends on the mood I'm in, or the mood I want to be in. Each type of music brings something a little different.

Some early mornings I like to listen to classical music as colour comes into the world. Then there are those days when you just need something with a little more groove to get your butt out of bed. Other times I feel more nostalgic and need a dose of 70's and/or 80's music.

Here is a small sampling of the music I like... Our Lady Peace, Great Big Sea, Rocco DeLuca & the Burden, Bryan Adams, David Usher/Moist, Jann Arden, U2, Tom Petty, The Black Crowes, Artificial Joy Club, The Police, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Michael Bublé, Elvis Presley... and the list goes on...

All Time Favourite Band: Duran Duran - yeah that's right! You never forget your first love.

Songs That Say Something About Me or My Beliefs:
Imagine - John Lennon
I Love to Laugh - Mary Poppins Soundtrack (yeah Mary frickin Poppins)
Good Mother - Jann Arden
My Father's Chair - Rick Springfield

Our Lady Peace have had more #1 Rock Singles than any other Canadian artist! A Decade contains each of these hits plus two new songs entitled, "Kiss On The Mouth" and "Better Than Here."

Movies:

I love films so it's hard for me to list my favourites. Here are a select few that I really enjoy:
The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Aliens, The Terminator, Interview with the Vampire, The Lost Boys, Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, To End All Wars, The Sixth Sense, The Abyss, Flatliners, Shawshank Redemption, Eye For An Eye, Fried Green Tomatoes, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Young Guns, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, New Waterford Girl, Waking Ned Devine, A Night at the Roxbury, Mystic Pizza, Thelma & Louise... I could go on forever... really!

Take the quiz: What Superheroine Are You?
Take the quiz: What Type of Writer Should You Be?
You Should Be a Film Writer
You don't just create compelling stories, you see them as clearly as a movie in your mind.
You have a knack for details and dialogue. You can really make a character come to life.
Chances are, you enjoy creating all types of stories. The joy is in the storytelling.
And nothing would please you more than millions of people seeing your story on the big screen!

Television:

-------------------
My favourite tv show is 24 . I'm a total 24 junkie to say the least! Seriously the show is like a drug.
Try it once and you are hooked for life!
I also try to watch Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural and The Unit when I have a chance.
Some other shows that are no longer airing new episodes, but deserve mention are Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The X-Files and Gilmore Girls.
Take the quiz:
Which "24" character are you?

Jack Bauer
I AM Jack Bauer!!! (was there any doubt?)
JACK: You always save the day, you have a sexy voice, and have the longest days too often. Almost all of your love interest's die or just get sick of your need to save the world. Your not afraid of sticking it to the man, and if people would listen to you things would get done a lot faster.
Ultimate X-Files Quiz
Congratulations! You have kicked this quiz's supernatural, ectoplasmic, extraterrestrial ass! You've earned the highest honor: a Doctorate of Knowledge in X-Files Trivia! If X-Files trivia were the only categories on Jeopardy, you would be the highest scoring winner ever! It looks like watching each and every single episode on DVD in English, French AND Spanish has paid off well. It's getting to the point that you can take the closed captioning off the television now because you've memorized the scripts well enough that you can say the lines along with the characters. In a stressful situation, you're most likely to think "What would Mulder and Scully do?" and people probably laugh at you at work because your screensaver consists of a picture of Mulder in some funky poaching clothes with a neat little quote in an "X-Files" font that you found after four hours of searching Yahoo from one end to the other on another dateless Saturday night. But no worries, you'll always have your friends on the "X-Files" message boards (the boards that you haven't been thrown off of for passionately debating what exactly C. G. B. Spender's initials stand for, that is). Oh, and you might want to check your voice mail... maybe vehicle registration called you today to tell you that your license place "MULDR4ME" is in...
