Rock N Roll is a vicious game

About Me

Welcome to my little space on the internet.I'm a 40 year old, Canadian male who leads a pretty full and interesting life thanks to my wonderful family and awesome career.I'm Dad to three beautiful little girls and husband to a very understanding and supportive wife.I've been in the music biz in Canada for over 20 years. At various times I've been Dr. Johnny Fever (WKRP), Rob Gordon (High Fidelity) and Artie Fufkin (This is Spinal Tap). I also lived John Corbett's character, Chris Stevens (Northern Exposure), while running a one man radio station on the Alaska Highway in Northern B.C.I've worked in radio, ran a couple of record stores and have spent the last 17 years working for a major record label.I enjoy going to new places, meeting new people and generally having a good time wherever I end up. I'm a glass half full guy...more positive than negative. Must be the Pisces in me.I've been on Myspace for over a year and have made some great friends here. I enjoy blogging about the music biz and the sports world (two of my real passions).I am into all kinds of music - rock to country, jazz to funk. If it's played well and with passion...then I am into it. I used to be "lead screamer" in a garage rock band back in the 80's and have most recently been honoured with 3 Canadian Country Music Awards for Record Company Person of the Year. That should tell you how diverse my musical taste is.I'm a complete sports nut. Hockey is a big part of my life. I've played the game, coached, been a referee and have recently done some color commentary for games on the radio. I'm also into baseball, football, golf and basketball. I enjoy playing and watching most sports. I'm always wearing running shoes, just in case a game breaks out somewhere.

My Interests

Music, Sports, Travel, Photography, Playing with my kids and filling out goofy myspace surveys. On a serious note, I like giving back (or paying it forward) and get involved in several charity organizations and not for profit groups. I think it's important to help out our fellow human beings and to leave the planet in good shape for future generations.

I'd like to meet:

I'm here to network with people and have some fun, plain and simple (no hanky panky). If I sent you a friend request it's because I've read your profile and think we might have something in common or we might already share a friend here on myspace. I really enjoy getting to know music fans from all over the world. I get a kick out of turning people on to new music (which is good because that is what I do for a living). I also love it when someone can introduce me to something I've never heard before. If you live in the Edmonton area, or in Calgary, Toronto or London, chances are that you've seen me working with music artists at concerts, media events and retail autograph signings. I've met a few people on here that have sent me photos of bands that they've taken and have spotted me in the background. It's funny to get recognized as "that record label guy".

Music:

Check out the "About Me" section for a run down on my 20+ years in the music biz in Canada. I try to change up the music on this space every day or so. If you like what you're hearing on my page, please go and visit the artists' page. I usually have the artist in my "Top Friends" section.

Movies:

I love comedies, westerns, science fiction, movies about sports and biographical pictures.

Television:

Hockey Night in Canada is the only must see TV in my world. I like to watch baseball and football on the tube as well. Other than sports, I watch the video channels (CMT, Much, Much More Music). WKRP made me what I am today. I wish that show was still on! Thank God for You Tube! Lately I have become addicted to A&E...Gene Simmons' Family Jewels is hilarious! I'm also a big, big fan of The Hour on CBC. Keep up the great work, George!

Books:

I like biographies of music and sports legends. Otherwise I only read magazines and cereal boxes.
