By the age of seven, it was clear that
Patrick Lopez had a love of music. A little guitar that his parents bought for him became his first creative outlet, and he would often spend hours making up little melodies. Enrollment in the ASM Music School seemed like a natural next step for his parents, and soon Patrick began taking guitar lessons once a week. Taking it seriously, he would spend every day practicing religiously. After only two years of lessons, he won first place in the annual ASM Music Festival held in Miami Beach, Florida, compelling him to continue playing guitar during junior high.
Under the leadership of George Walters, HJH had a solid reputation for turning out great musicians. After deciding to audition for the band, Patrick would learn that there were no more spots for guitar, only a trumpet vacancy. Although he didn’t know it at the time, this minor stumbling block would set him down the path to becoming a great trumpet player and a versatile musician unafraid to adapt to his surroundings.
After three years of playing trumpet, his true devotion to music was apparent. He was winning contests held within the band, traveling to various county music festivals, and was about to be accepted into the PAVAC, an elite music program in Miami, Florida, where he would get professional level training. By the time he graduated from this program, he was playing with the likes of Tony Tatis, Alex Leon, Tito Nieves, Edwin Rivera, Jerry Rivera, Giovanni Nieves, La Grand Union and numerous compa bands. He was sharing the stage with jazz musicians like Ira Sullivan, Freddie Hubbard, Pete Minger, Melton Mustafa, Spdier Martin and traveling all over Europe, with trips to Switzerland, Germany, France and Iceland, among others.
In the time that followed, Patrick Lopez challenged himself to begin singing and playing the piano. Ever since then, he has worked with several wedding bands in the South Florida area. There he has been a lead singer,trumpeter, pianist and entertainer performing Top 40Hits and Latin covers .
