Abner Torres is a skilled and versatile first-call drummer from the south Florida area. His ability to seamlessly cross over from straight-ahead jazz to traditional Latin, rock, gospel, and R&B genres has opened doors to play and record with a diverse collection of top international artists. These artists include Julio Iglesias, Shakira, Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Chaka Khan, Grammy award winner Nestor Torres, Giovanni Hidalgo, Edwin Bonilla, Jimmy Smith, Juan Gabriel, Dr. Lonnie Smith, The Latin Jazz Crew, Desmond Child, Sammy Figeroa, M.D.O., Rene Gonzalez, Danilo Lopez, Kurt Karr, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Othello Molineax. Abner began his musical journey in grade school band where he began to refine his technique and musicianship into his high school years. He was a member of his high school’s award winning drum core ensemble and jazz band. Abner’s music experience includes playing for prominent local church worship bands, as well as performance appearances on several television shows. He has led clinics for Paiste cymbals, Resurrection drums alongside percussion juggernaut Giovanni Hidalgo, and the Meyer sound company. Abner endorses Regal Tip drumsticks, and is currently on tour with Julio Iglesias.
