Check out my academic pro bio below:Conrad Kehn is a performer, composer, improviser, educator, writer and artist. He is the founding Director of The Playground; a chamber ensemble dedicated to modern music.Conrad has been spotted on stage with a variety of acts including the sporadically performing improv ensembles Mystery Children & Rhythmic Void, the experimental multimedia ensemble Itchy-O, now defunct rock bands Kallisti and Skull Flux, and of course The Playground.As a soloist, he specializes in vocal improvisation and contemporary music. Improvisatory collaborations include performances with Wu Fei, Tatsuya Nakatani, James Ilgenfritz, Brandon Vaccaro, Nate Wooley and the ensemble Attack/ Adorn/ Decay. Recent concert hall performances include works by Feldman, Cowell and Rzewski as well as his own compositions.His composition style spans all genres touching on electro-acoustic music, multimedia works, graphic scores, aleatory, and experimental rock, but still remains grounded in the western music tradition. Conrad’s music has been performed across the US and well as in Russia and Europe. In 2007 he won the Audio Inversion Composition contest and was featured on their concert series in Austin, Texas.As a clinician Conrad gives classes on composition, vocal improvisation and contemporary vocal practice, non-profit and ensemble management, and career development.Conrad offers private lessons in a variety of areas. He maintains an active composition studio catering to students of all levels. Styles vary from traditional common practice harmony to modern/ experimental idioms as well as more commercial and pop genres.Conrad also does in-home troubleshooting and training on a variety of music hardware and software application. You bought the gear, learn to use it!!!! Conrad will come to your home, get your computer and equipment talking, and then teach you how to use it.In certain situations Conrad may be persuaded to give voice lessons. His unique approach incorporates classical training but is specifically focused on finding your voice.Conrad holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music and Recording Technology from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music (1996). He also has a Master’s Degree in Composition from Lamont (2000) where he was named the Outstanding Graduate Student in Composition and the Outstanding Graduate Student in Commercial Music. His composition instructors include Don Keats, M. Lynn Baker, and Bill Hill. He is currently pursuing an MBA at the Daniels College of Business focusing on Entrepreneurship and Non-profit Management.Conrad is currently a lecturer of Music Theory, Composition and Music Technology at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, where he directs the Lamont Composers Concert Series.
