Acethetic represents both the left and right hemispheres of the brain. I am logical, I am an artist. I inhale life and exhale music.
Born in San Diego, California, Ace grew up listening to a wide variety of music. Digging through his father's tapes, he found jazz, latin, folk, reggae, and classical. Having played the saxophone and the drums, Ace had music in his blood and knew that this was what he wanted to pursue in life. In 1992, he was introduced to Hip Hop. After that, life would never be the same.
Inspired by artists like KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, and Souls of Mischief, Ace set out at a young age to pursue his music career. After buying his first set of turntables in middle school, Ace began DJing and creating mixtapes that would circulate around his school. In high school, Ace began producing for a friend using a Triton Le, and eventually started rhyming over his beats. Being inspired by west coast artists like the Living Legends and Hieroglyphics, Ace studied the independent hustle and put out his first album "Park Benches" in 2003. While this album marinated in the San Diego Hip Hop scene, Ace went hard to work on his second album "Thoughts of a Wonderer", which dropped in 2004.
Also listening to artists like John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Wes Montgomery, Ace began to play the guitar and study Jazz. After high school, he attended a summer Jazz program at UCSD and a a five week performance program at the Berklee College of Music.
In 2006, Acethetic released his third album "Reflections" under his own independent label Galactic Butterfly. It was during this time that he met Opoetik, Jahsun, Philasifer, and Evolve One. These five individuals came together to form the crew known as "Friend of a Friend". A future project solidified this foundation.
In 2007, Ace moved to Oakland, CA where he began work on his fourth solo project entitled "You'll See In Time". After sharing the stage with the likes of 2Mex, The Grouch, Eligh, Lucky.i.am, DJ Abilities, Oddisee, and working with artists like Bicasso, Trek Life, and the Bavukuba All Starz from Uganda, Acethetic remains steady on his musical journey while striving to create a movement to change the world through art and music.
