Bob Constant & The Goodbye Horses

Writing new noises and gigging again soon!

About Me

Bob Constant and Samuel Wicker met in an aquarium whilst staring at a manta ray. It's a very strange sensation putting your hand in the water to touch the skin of a manta ray. That's the first thing they agreed on. Naturally, there followed agreement on the subjects of pickled eggs, memory, etiquette and music. Before long Bob was making music in the back room of an off license and was shortly accompanied by the aforementioned Samuel Wicker. And then... Gabriel Bash, a disgruntled and surprisingly hairy little man, woke up Bob one day by rummaging through a skip outside his house, looking for things to make noises with. Just before the situation got ugly, Bob realised that he had a whole room full of such trinkets and decided to take a risk and invite Gabriel into he and Samuel Wicker's strange world...he liked it and won't go away. They have now written a healthy batch of fine, upstanding songs, and would very much like to play them for you... My Interests

Music:

Band Website: email us at bobconstantband (at) hotmail.co.uk
Band Members: Bob Constant - vocals and things, Samuel Wicker - guitar and things, Gabriel Bash - hitting things... and things.
Influences: Tom Waits, Animal Collective, Nina Simone, Buck 65, Rufus Wainwright, DJ Shadow, Why?, Danyel Waro, Mike Ladd etc etc... Also: Bob Constant is now litening very carefully to the muffled noises his neighbours make; to the way his house creaks speak and to the sound of the sea in a cupped hand.... Samuel Wicker is currently listening intensely to Why?'s new album, "Alopecia." It's fantastic. Also loving Toumani Diabete's Mande Variations. And I just saw No Age for the first time recently and they were AMAZING! ...Gabriel Bash is all about The Dodos...he also has the Why? bug and has just discovered the wonderful electronic world of Moodgadget records...oh, recently saw Sunset Rubdown and was deeply impressed!
Sounds Like: Getting a hug from your strange friend, Albert."What really smacked me between the eyes was the resemblance, or should I say affinity, with the avant-garde music of yesteryear in the form of Captain Beefheart and Pere Ubu. This is seriously good stuff in my book and well removed from what anyone else seems to be doing here in the UK". Timbre Obscura.See Bob's home videos...

Happy Valentine's Day! As we're quite sentimental fools, we've added a new song on this day, the celebration of Saint Valentine. It's called "Moses Mudd", and is a love song (of sorts) both sweet...
