About Me

Rebel Jane - Live at the BBC -april 2007
Innocence is bliss
The Waiter
Elephant
Alibi
Rebel Jane live, rehearse and record on a boat moored on the Thames in the shadow of Battersea power station. Using dark blues influences and a selection of instruments, the band are painting a refreshingly different musical landscape that's starting to attract industry attention.
Rebel Jane started their careers headlining a highly publicised 3 week UK tour, following a successful internet campaign for the War Child charity at the very end of 2006. Since then the band have put out a live DVD of their performance at the BBC studios, clips of which are on this site, the rebel jane facebook group and youtube, and the audio from this session is available to buy on iTunes.
Having performed an acoustic set at the EMI Records offices, Rebel Jane have now been signed up for a management deal and are looking for their debut festival slots in 2008. All bookings can be initiated through this myspace site, or by emailing [email protected], or contacting rebel jane via the facebook group.

Influences:
Sounds Like: "... their music is largely inspired by the likes of timeless influences hovering in the shadow of Nick Cave, Radiohead or Jeff Buckley. We hear tales of lost love and youth and how “Innocence Is Bliss”. Cameron’s vocals are balanced with Danny’s gentle keyboards, especially on the track “Elephant” and the angelic voice of a girl called Pip.... the feminine vocals are a nice addition on record to Cameron’s falsetto and give it an even more fragile edge. (The previous support band) miss what Cameron has a plenty: charisma and this makes the difference between an average rock band and potential stars in the making. " Delphine Nizet, EMI site gig review
"Rebel Jane are a haunting, emotive blend of provocative lyrics and eery melodies with Cameron's falsetto vocals lending a yearning, lost, last-man-on-earth quality to the music." Jade Cunningham, EMI interview
I'm listening to your stuff and I like it very much. I think you noticed from my profile the fact that I like bands like Radiohead and Muse also, not just Jeff. And in your music I actually find more similarities to those two than mr. Buckley. But I must say, that Cameron you have an a.m.a.z.i.n.g voice. And that's what again ties you and Jeff Buckley together :)What attracts me most in your music are the intervals, the brittle atmosphere that can be broken in any second. And then the powerful feelings (that you enjoy but that also can hurt you) which you interpret so emotionally with a voice that brings shivers to my spine.I'd really like to hear you live. I must purchase your DVD from Ebay and then just wait for you to come to Helsinki, I guess :) - Noora, Helsinki
Rebel Jane is a band to take note of. Their infectious grooves, whirlwind orchestral sound (especially, heard on tracks such as "Innocence is Bliss," and "Broken Jaw Kingdom"), and compelling dynamics, take you on a journey of musical wonderment. Its their unpredictable song arrangements, that makes them an interesting listen, from start to end. Fans of the Doves, Muse, Radiohead, should definitely check these guys out. I really like the keyboard dancing above this track. It fits and fights at the same time. The vocals are very muse esque. I love the ending, BVs, different guitar parts, all building up but emotively not just a typical guitar rock out. This band is only 6 Months old, keep your eyes and ears open 9/10 Bandman.co.uk, reviewing Broken-Jaw Kingdom
"Tour stalwarts Rebel Jane upped the ante and the volume a little with their melodic rock and roll. The intelligent arrangements and talent on show were impressive." 4/5, Skinny Mag, Scotland
Coming towards the end of the three-week WarChild New Music Tour, you would expect Rebel Jane to be feeling the strain, not just through the heavy playing schedule, but also due to the time and effort involved in organising bands and venues across the country. If the organisational efforts and ability of Cameron Laing weren't already worthy of major praise, his Jeff Buckley style vocals were equally impressive. Musically, Rebel Jane make a dramatic sound. Undulating and gently heavy the influence of Jeff Buckley is clear, as well as Radiohead and a little Muse. Soaring vocals, harmonies and dynamic arrangements are all tasty sounding ingredients, but most importantly, are the songs any good? Well, on first listen from the comfort of my chair on the door I heard enough quality to say yes! - Tony Foster
REBEL JANE are an unsigned indie band based in London. They make soaring, melodic rock with lots of interplay between the keys and guitars. This sparse-but-pretty sound is topped off by Cameron's voice, which often flies off into the stratosphere... Bandman featured artist profile

"Mesmerizing - I totally forgot everything that was happening around me" - Joy, Cambridge tour date
"The most truly beautiful unsigned set I've ever seen" Al, Nottingham tour date
