Leroy Junior was born on a snowy cold day in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Jan 1st. Leroy Junior as he is popularly known originates from a musical family. He began showing interest in music from an early age. "He sang before talked" recalls his father, Leroy Brown.Leroy Junior grew up yearning to pursue music. He enrolled in music classes in high school and began writing. Leroy developed a smooth style performing in the city. Performing with greats in reggae music such as Glen Washington & Leroy Brown, Leroy became more comfortable & confident on stage. Leroy Junior wanted to expand his horizons, so he became involved in making music. He enlisted the guidance and musical talents of his father and keyboard player Bernie Pitters. In 1999, he produced his first single, "Maria, Maria", a cover version of Wycilff Jean/ Carlos Santanna single. The track was released on the Hit Squad Label. the single enjoyed heavy rotation on many station across Canada & United States. "I felt like a dream had come true when I could turn on the radio and hear my song" recalls Leroy Junior.In 2002, "I believe in music" was released on Dakarai Music Label produced by Sly/Robbie. The track entered on the New York Top 30 Singles Chart, and Miamis WLRN Carribbean Rhythms in December of that year. Within a couple of weeks on both charts and getting major radio play, "I believe in music " moved up to be one of the top ten singles. Leroy Junior was nominated for Top Newcomer and male Singer of the Year at the 2002 Canadian Reggae Music Awards in Toronto, Ontario Canada. In summer of 2003, Leroy Junior's third song, "Give Love Another Try " was released on "Leroy Brown & Friends" compilation, getting sudden air play on major and community stations in and out of the country throughout 2004-2005.With quiet determination and strong will, this artist is destined to take the world by storm.
