About Me
Founded in the early days of 2006, SWAFI is one of the first bulgarian projects to explore the entrails of melodic metalcore. Their main influences come from bands such as Atreyu, As I Lay Dying or Unearth, with the idea to combine brutal hard-core oriented vocals with melodic riffs based on old school metal bands.
The band's lyrics and ideas are focused on dark states of mind, but without treating specific social issues such as politics or religion. The goal of such approach is that everyone who listens to their music should be able to find their own way to understand it.
Their stage debut is on the 19th of June, in O! Shipka club (Sofia), 4 months after starting rehearsals, and with barely no time to get together, because of the busy schedules of all six members of the project. A succesfull start though, promissing a good base for further developement of bands in this genre.
In the following months, the band records a demo-song ("Hurt") in Sub Zero Studios, where they also rehearse, and then play live a couple of times more, in Sofia and Plovdiv. 12.03.2008 - Albumat e veche fakt. Izlishno e da spomenavame che sega poveche ot vsiakoga imame nujda ot vashata podkrepa, za da napravim edna krachka napred v razvitieto na rodnata scena, samo iskame da vi napomnim da idvate na koncerti i da podkrepiate rodnite si grupi za da vi davat i te radost i priatni migove kakto prez tazi - taka i prez idnite godini. Na dobur chas! S.W.A.F.I. biha iskali da blagodarqt predvaritelno na vsichki svoi priqteli, Sub Zero studios, na momchetata (i momiche) ot Toxic Hate i Let Them Die za pomoshta pri zapisite, i vsichki koito veche 2 godini ni turpiat! :) 12.03.2008 - The album is allready a fact. The recording and mixing came to an end, and the product is beeing completed as we write these lines... there's still a couple of little details, like photos and the organization of 3 promo-dates around Bulgaria,which you'll hear/read about here - really soon. The video is allso ready, you'll have to wait a week or two untill we officialy present it on the "Fractura" show, on MM Tv, followed by an interview with us, throwing some light in the darkness :) For those who really can't wait, we plan to release the album on pre-sale at the end of this month, when the video is ready to be cast on TV, and a bit later, in the midst of April the shows will start as well. It's useless to mention that now more than ever we need your support, to make one more step ahead in the developement of our so called "scene", and we just want to remind you all to come to the live shows and to support our nation's bands for them to give us more fun times, in this year, and in the ones ahead of us.
