eX is a band where all of its members have poured their heart and soul into our songs...we live, eat, and breathe music. with a myriad of influences, we have combined, refined, and dedicated ourselves to creating a product that is unique, full of feeling and meaning, and something that we call genuine.
each song is written in such a way that the listener can derive their own meaning for the song and understand it in their own way. it gives the person the freedom of interpretation and can connect with it in such a unique way that it becomes a part of them and lingers in their mind.
the vocals represent two parts of the same mind. both halves have the same goals but different ways of achieving them. sometimes the two parts will agree on a method to solve the problem, sometimes they will disagree. it is up to the listener to comprehend what is happening within the song and create their own understanding.
Bio:
Many members came and went with time, giving their own point of view to a type of music not very far away from what nowadays is known as the "crossover" genre. Never to find a real answer to questions asked by destiny, and never to stay in one place, the band grew up aside it's members, and each day of experience, each idea, each rehearsal, each new song and concert, shaped the idea of two people (Luben/ "Sith" - guitars, George/ "Grey" - Vocals)- into something much, much more complicated than expected initially. What started as a "soulfly-oriented" project in 2003 changed into a much more expansive and colorfull idea with time. It was all about the people we worked with, and the way they interpreted the ideas we came up with at the time. Then some new people would join the band, and totally re-direct things, and so on... some old songs were totally forgotten, some took new shapes... and as this happened, we started wanting more and more from ourselves, to the point of throwing away allmost 80% of the new ideas just in order to avoid "cliches". By 2006 the band had changed 4 drummers, 3 bass players, 2 guitarrists and a female vocalist. That makes a total of 12 people involved in some point with the creative process, that makes the ideas of 12 totally different people trying to coexist in one place. By this time, we allready had an official demo recorded in what in our humble opinion is the best recording studio in Bulgaria, and a video to our first single - "Secrecy" that MM television still broadcasts from time to time. Of course, many gigs in small clubs, unfortunatelly, only in the city of Sofia, and in Istambul, Turkey. The best memory we keep from playing live is from the 2nd of October, '06, when we played in front of more than 3000 people, with 5 other bands on a venue called "One Day Overground Festival". All we can say now, looking at allmost 4 years of playing is that it was worth doing what we did, because people that loved us, was allways there, and you could just feel the way they felt about you, playing that music. After coming back from Istambul, we unanimously decided to take a break, which is the way things are now. It's really painfull not to find the answers that you look for, especially when you give so much dedication to some particullar details, and at the end of the day, you still feel like you are getting nowhere. None of the members will say that eX doesn't exist anymore, simply 'cause it's not true. eX is a constant and vivid memory, it's given us as much as we gave to it, and it's made us enjoy those first steps into music so much, we may never be able to thank each other enough. The only things we regret is not being strong enough from time to time; strong enough not to give up to negative emotions and feelings, strong enough to believe hard enough in our own ideas and convictions. And so, maybe the brake we mentioned is a result of that need of strenghth. Maybe we ourselves are not ready to give this idea the shape it should present, and maybe we just need to grow up a little bit more. Who knows? One thing is for certain: we keep on searching, one day, we might find what we are looking for. Untill then, thanx to every one that has ever supportted, loved, hated and listened to us.
