TIM YOUNG: "Nobody knows The Cost..."

About Me

From my midtown Manhattan apartment I hear the crows from outside my window. Somehow they remind me of Rock n Roll. There's a reason behind their calling out into the city air. I like to think a method to their madness. Is it not all madness? Here on MySpace we are all calling out about something; wanting to be heard among the constant roar that surrounds us. Look how powerful music can be. Look at this community of millions of us because of the music.I'm here to let my music out. I want it to find some air to breathe outside the confines of my apartment once it has been created. To call out into the cracks and crevices of other people's lives so that they are able to hear the crows outside from their windows.Tim Young Band is a duo: guitar and drums. The drummer is Sand Edwards. He is a native New Yorker and I am a transplant from Easton, PA. Currently we perform once a month at this Vintage Bar which is just down the street from where I live. It's a cool non dive kind of joint. They have a Martini menu and all the bartenders know how to take care of business. Sand and i have been playing together for two years and are awaiting the release of the new CD which is 'The Cost.' People come to see this band because of the energy and the melody. Those two ingredients in addition to saying something within the song make up my definition of Rock n Roll. I strive to stay true to those meanings. Please take a moment to listen to some of this music. MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator

Influences: Sixties AM radio Keith Richards The Beatles Cousin Brucie Ricky Nelson Grace Slick Jim Morrison Jimmy Page David Bowie Bob Dylan Phil Ochs Steve Stills Johnny Rotton Kurt Cobain Muddy Waters Little Richard Chuck Berry Joni Mitchell New York City Aretha Franklin Nanci Griffith Rock a Billy Traffic Automobiles Women Film Noir Jean Luc Godard Politicians The Beat Writers. especially Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs and Allan Ginsberg with a dash of Gregory Corso Also, these aren't influences exactly but i find a lot of ideas out of a movie I'm dying to see or a book I need to read. And hell, there's nothing like a stormy relationship to goose that muse. Sometimes even past relationships can trigger a song if there is some facet that used to be really great or really awful. Sometimes just putting fresh strings on the old guitar is a catalyst for an awesome new progression.
Sounds Like: Tim Young, Eric Burdon, John Lennon, Johnny Cash, John Hiatt, I'd like to throw in a dash of Richie Havens too. And all you boys and girls who really know how to shred that acoustic guitar. Show no mercy!
