About Me

For more than three decades, Mount Allison University students and Sackville community members have taken to the airwaves to play their favorite music, talk about the weather, discuss the issues of the day and let people know what's happening in the Tantramar region. As a member-owned, campus/community station, CHMA provides YOU with an opportunity to create innovative, educational and alternative community-based programming. Our schedule includes open format and specialty music shows, spoken word programs on a variety of topics as well as an array of experimental programming including live and pre-recorded radio and audio art. CHMA also has a long history of live broadcasting, including live coverage of concerts, ceremonies and sporting events. But CHMA is more than just its on-air presence. We've organized and promoted many projects and events including concerts, coffee houses, fundraisers, conferences and workshops. Our biggest annual event is the STEREOPHONIC music festival held every January since 2004. This annual fundraiser for the station sees bands from across the Maritimes come together for a week of music and fun. To find out more, check out our website and look for posters around town, or drop by the station on the third floor of the University Centre on the campus of Mount Allison University.

My Interests

We love music and have more than 19,000 CD's in our libraries. We also have a huge collection of vinyl and a large selection of spoken word material. We're interested in community events, local independent music, and making things happen.

I'd like to meet:

BANDS, SINGERS, SONGWRITERS, MUSICIANS, POETS, DRAMATISTS, ARTISTS, ASTRONAUTS, AND ANYONE INTERSTED IN GETTING INVOLVED! And of course, we're always looking for new members! Just think, most of our members come to us with no experience in broadcasting, so there's no need to worry if this is your first radio experience. After a brief orientation session, we'll invite you to get involved behind the scenes or, if you choose to receive additional training, you could soon take to the air as a programmer. Why wait? If you've ever wanted to learn more about the magic of radio, now is the time. We're located on campus, on the third floor of the University Centre, and on the web at www.mta.ca/chma.It's Your Radio. Get On It!

Music:

Did we mention we love music?

Heroes:

All the awesome musicians and bands who play Sackville, our great group of volunteer staff and programmers, our sponsors, all our members and most importantly... our listeners!
