Five Foot Nine

You there, stay away from my popper-stopper.

About Me

Five Foot Nine isn't just the sock-clad height of front man Michael Hushel. It's the deft stickwork of former Caviar (Island Rec.) drummer Jason Batchko. A touch of swaggering bassmanship from Tom (Cisco Pike/ JoyPoppers) Szidon. Multiple contributions from Mark Joyal & Stacy Cummings. And some serious vocals from chanteuse Laura Coleman.Awash with guy/girl vocals, horns, handclaps, sitar, cellos and pedal steel (Ken Champion from Smog/Jim O'Rourke projects) the buoyant compositions have received radio airplay around the country and drawn praise from such sources as LostAtSea.net, TheFireNote.com, NoiseForToaster, CanYouSeeTheSunset, The Onion, The UK's PennyBlackMusic and others. The just-released full-length debut was produced by Michael with former Webb Brother(Warner UK) Neal Ostrovsky at Neal's lauded B-Side Audio in Chicago's Ukranian Village.
