Hop On Pop

About Me

Hop On Pop was four friends, brought together by Todd Leiter-Weintraub to record an album full of his original compositions. That album, As Drawn By Ethan, Age 2, was released in April, 2004 on Spade Kitty Records. The album received positive reviews and achieved relatively modest sales. In August, 2007, bassist Tim Ferguson left the band to persue his own projects, and he took the other guys with him. This left Leiter-Weintraub alone... all by his lonesome. (sniff sniff.) Well, being alone, Todd decided to pursue a more fluid format for the next Hop On Pop album. He convinced HoP drummer/percussionist/multi-instrumentalist David Kling to join him on this new venture. Together, they are picking up friends, musicians, and acquaintences, nerds, and various insects wherever they can find them to record a new set of songs for the anxiously awaited follow-up. Being that the band lineup changes from song to song, and that Todd's listening habits range from apples to submarines, the songlist for this new venture promises to be wildly diverse. It will delve more-deply into Todd's love of traditional American music, such as bluegrass and country, as well as into punk, klezmer, and the electronic pop influenced by Brian Eno that he loves so much. For now, Ethan... will serve to tide over the small, but growing band of Hop On Pop fans.
