MUSICAL BIO
Artist Bio: Ness Lee
Current Project: All In a Day’s Work: A Southern Tale
Release Date: Mid April 2007 Date To Be Announced
[March 20th, 2007 – Atlanta, GA] Soon to be known across the world, ‘Ness Lee’ was born into a military family in Albany, GA. After constant moving around and experiencing life from many different aspects, Ness found his outlet of creativity in lyricism at the age of 16. Ness hit the scene hard battle-rapping on local Albany radio station HOT 106 ‘s “Who’s Got the Flavor” show with DJ Ant Mack under the alias ‘Nasty Ness'. Ness’s list of opponents included fellow Albany Georgian Shawn J of Field Mob and producer Rockwell who is now Ness’s great friend and mentor. Ness’s other early aliases included ‘NESSessary’, Matlock and John Bravo. In 2002, Ness discovered and conquered the art of online battle rapping, which required him to put his production and lyrical abilities to work and has since been regarded as one of the best on the website [rapmusic.com]. Archived battles featured on his soundclick page introduces an incredibly talented young Ness developing his craft. Ness has also battled with the M.C.W.A.R. camp traveling to L.A., N.Y., N.J., and Philly. In 2003, Ness independently released his debut underground classic LP "It's Just Me", of which he sold thousands of copies by hand and online. Ness was later signed to Interscope for a battle rap reality series [Showtime Presents: the Next Episode] in which he placed in the finals.
Ness Lee’s long-awaited 2nd project "All In A Days Work: A Southern Tale" is currently in its final stages of production, with the release date scheduled for mid April. Over the years since “Its Just Me”, Ness has teamed with Shun Jester, and independent label Soul Rush Music Co. was established. “All In A Days Work: A Southern Tale” will be the first official release of Soul Rush Music Co. and everyone involved couldn’t be happier with the result of the hard work put forth into this project. "All In A Days Work: A Southern Tale" is suitably branded “The People’s Album” due to a track-list of cohesive true to life stories, with meticulously produced tracks for your listening pleasure. One of Ness Lee’s main goals is to show that contrary to popular views, there are many true ‘spitters’ in the South, despite what the industry deems marketable. Hip Hop is alive and well at Soul Rush Music, and Ness’s work exemplifies the importance of keeping art and originality in rap music in a time where many artists have shifted focus on material gain while abandoning the craft. He updates his fans with a chronological account of real life events following “Its Just Me”, while making sure to stick to his battling roots by delivering hard-hitting lyrical content on his self-produced, sample-free tracks. Ness is setting out to be the voice the ‘regular’ people who have 9-5 jobs and regular human issues, even while its not typically represented on the airwaves. He also keeps his well-known humor in his music with comical yet truth-driven tracks that give the album a cohesive finish. Please hear the 6-minute album snippet from the playlist to just to get feel.
Once Ness Lee has set his mark worldwide, he will be predictably unstoppable in his pioneering movement to bring true talent back ‘in style’. Ness has been performing non-stop, producing hot tracks, and staying true to his God-given genius. He remains determined in his efforts by persevering through adversity and staying thankfully humble. Ness hopes to help open doors for his talented comrades on the underground/independent scene who negate generalizing stereotypes placed on Southern rappers. Along with his fellow Soul Rush artists, Ness has taken on the task of returning the reminiscent sentiment surrounding the original Hip-Hop movement to the forefront.
