DA (d) NOUN: Slang for ‘The’ belle (b l) NOUN: A popular, attractive girl or woman, especially the most attractive one of a group: the belle of the ballThis Georgia born-Jersey bred Hip Hop Artist embodies a now lost breed of female MC (i.e., MC Lyte, Salt N’ Peppa, Nikki D, etc, etc). Adrift’s music has proven its intoxicating capabilities during countless performances at Atlanta area venues- as well as impromptu open mic appearances. Her voice can captivate the most jaded of Hip Hop heads with gritty, realistic word play from a woman’s perspective. Adrift has been a ‘serious’ Hip Hop artist for ten years having found her niche in a Savannah College of Art and Design dorm room while freestyling with fellow budding Hip Hop artist to the tunes of popular campus DJ Acura. Adrift-per her own account, “surprised herself” when she started to rap that fateful night- having been an avid poet until that moment. After her dorm room session, Adrift gained dorm wide acclaim and became the chick on campus that could rap. Fast forward five or so years later and you’ll find Adrift leaving her beloved NJ (with all her worldly possessions) en route to Atlanta determined to succeed. Since her arrival in the “A”, this transplant has been busy making a name for herself from the Peacock to the Apache Café. Most recently Adrift has made an alliance with Ray Murray of Organized Noise and is now a member of the Dungeon Family’s Second Generation set called Dungeoneze. Under Ray Murray’s tutelage, Adrift has completed her second full-length album entitled “Urban Myth” (featuring production by Ray Murray and The Beat Gods) and has slated release for the summer of 2008.
