SYNERGY MAGAZINE Fall Edition 1996 by Kingnova"If you haven’t seen Technobabble, you’re hurtin’. Simply because the movie is about you, the people, music, and DJ’s. So don’t be stupid, go see it.My partner and I got to check out the preview and to be honest, without knowing what to expect, I figured it was going to be some cheesy halfway thrown together mess. But, instead, the film touched on some really great moments. The music is tremendous, especially the opening tune.We found so much fucking comedy in the parts that featured either Sandy or the Big Nasty.I mean that shit was really funny! even when you just see the previews. Factory Visuals deserve much credit for their first feature film."********************************AXIS MAGAZINE September 1996 by Corbett TrubeyTechnobabble is a damn funny and entertaining movie. From beginning to end, this film is full of inside jokes, good music, good times and Factory Visuals’ trademark psychedelic graphics. The plot is simple: Factory Visuals and Chang must make their way from Atlanta to O-town in time for Roland A. Long’s house party, which promises to be an event to remember, up there with Passion 3 and Zen.During the course of the day, a girl gets her belly button pierced, a hitchhiker gets the crap beaten out of him, a drunk driver fucks up, and EVERYBODY gets high. But this only the beginning… About 90% of the film is shot in Orlando, with lots of familiar places like The Edge, Unity and Underground Record Source. There’s also plenty of locals making guest shots including Stace Bass, Daisy and Scramble Campbell.Ralph Haslacker, founder of Factory Visuals, has made a movie that covers just about everything you’d ever want to know about the Orlando underground scene. including some things that don’t quite fit, such as an unnecessary sex scene, and some alterna-group performing on stage. And the acting isn’t so hot, either, but that’ll be the least of what’s on your mind, especially when you’re watching Bunny spaz out on stage like he always does. The audience at the Aloma Grill frequently cheered when footage of past events were shown and when characters like the homophobe got what they deserved. And the running flyer joke almost had me in tears. The movie is completely un-serious and lets people know that the scene is really about people getting together and having a good time.AND THE OSCAR GOES TO… Sandy, who provides some of the more memorable scenes in the movie, including a hilarious wrestling match over the last nitrous balloon and a lovely little nose-picking interlude. I hope you can live it down, man. Thumbs up!********************************SYNERGY MAGAZINE Fall Edition 1996 by Princess Kitty La La"Porky’s meets progressive underground in Technobabble, a comedy written and directed by Ralph Haslacker of Factory Visuals.Hilarious schlock + 70’s style sexploitation + reckless juvenile abandon, and a slammin Kram score sum up this raucous docudrama that features local faces and more than a few off-their-faces.This B-grade should get nods for its impressive cinematography and editing work as we wonder through a day-or-so in the life of a few O-Town party people. Our protagonist, Rollin A Long, has arranged a generous house party for his girlfriend’s birthday. He’s hired Chang and Factory Visuals for the night, and the plot revolves loosely around their timely arrival. The trip starts at a show in Atlanta where the hired hands are first delayed, and RiTM groupies are treated to a full-on “Bunny” battle with “Laser Matt”.There are many side trips, including a nominated roster of party extravaganzas reaching as far as Nashville.A few thinking parts are even slipped in (alcohol vs herbs, homophobia, premature ejaculation, etc, etc), but the mood stays light enough for even the most politically adverse.Speaking of political, Technobabble is not for those corrected types, virgins under 18, or self righteous, say-no-snobs.This is a serious beer crackin, knee slappin, eye rollin, butt jukin, Rockin good time. The next night you’re planning to get silly, consider Technobabble for the perfect pre-party warm up. Cheerz."
