About Me

EXPLODING onto the South African scene in 2001, HALFPRICE immediately stuck out as being one of the few bands that could write good songs and sustain an impressive stage performance without ever compromising passion. They became rapidly well known for their crazy antics and outrageous attitude towards life both on and off the stage. Blending ROCK n ROLL, SKA and PUNK ROCK styles to create their own psychoholic South African vibe, HALFPRICE's music, like the members' diversity, is a true reflection of the new age rock n roll coming out of a new South Africa.
After 5 years of f*cking up, hundreds of insane shows, countless broken bones and mindless backstage buffoonery, HALFPRICE are set to release their second full length album on RED AMBULANCE records, entitled BANNED.
HALFPRICE have taken all that they learnt from their debut full length record TAKING LIFE SERIOUSLY (2004), the experiences shared on the road from touring on European soil (2005) and combined it with a diet of canned food, the motion of the ocean and old school PUNK ROCK n ROLL to produce BANNED a 14 track album with some of the phattest sounds ever to come out of Africa. The record comprises of a whole new level of maturity in terms of songwriting technique from ROCK n ROLL groove tunes to SKA PUNK party music yet the band still manages to maintain the same satire, and the characteristic oddball element of social commentary that one has come to expect from HALFPRICE.Check out http://www.drunkpunk.co.za

THE HOMO
Pete is the front man of the Halfprice stage act and has been with there since day One. Pete forms the main voice of the Halfprice and the rhythm section in most songs playing fast and furious ska tunes mixed in with melodic punk rock anthems and metal riffs. His ska vocal attack is at super-sonic speeds and his raspy voice blends in well with the vocal harmonies of Markus and Rene. He has been known to be difficult at times but his attitude is simple and all about having FUN.

THE DFG
Co-Founding member of Halfprice, Marcus, is possibly the most outrageous member of the Halfprice campaign. A wonderful human specimen loved by both men and women makes him a unique addition to the Halfprice menagerie. This German superhero is no joke. His flexible Bavarian fingers tickle out fat bass licks especially over Ska sections and no-one can quite grasp the intensity of his raspy vocal attack which is enough to make the elderly cringe and buckle up their living room seatbelts whilst the army of youth cheer as if they were born for this ride

MR RENE TRAUT
Even though heâ€™s been with the band since 2003he is still refered to as the new guy?! He's a pure, warm blooded Namibian guitar playing MACHINE. Always a favourite with the ladies because of his desert tan, he backs up his appeal with many years of classical guitar training. Being the second best looking member he really appeals to lots of the male audience as well. Reneâ€™s gravely vocals have formed an essential part of the Halfprice sound and has added an infinite amount to the band since joining. His leads and metal solos are looked upon with extreme envy by The Homo

KYLE THE MACHINE
Known as The Machine because of his frenetic playing style Kyle is better known for his manly charms and the unique ability bordering on hyperactivity to be in a constant rush for the next show. Johannesburg born and raised, Kyle is by leaps and bounds the best looking member of the band. Kyle forms the beat and rhythm background section of the band. He plays metal and ska beats infused with solid Punk Rock rhythms effortlessly and has mastered the art of playing with supreme precision.
