About Me

About the Comic Book Literacy Documentary

Currently in Production! The Comic Book Literacy Documentary (no, that's not the official title) is an independent documentary film project currently in production. The film showcases comic books as a way to inspire a passion for reading in both children and adults. Comics have received a lot of bad publicity in the past and it is the goal of this film to shatter the negative stereotype of comics as "junk food for the brain" and to show them in a new light.

Comics are a medium as diverse as movies and encourage more thought than video games. Yet this misunderstood medium has always been the dirty little secret of the literature world. From the immigrant who learns English by reading Superman comics to the child who develops a love of literature from the X-Men, comics have kept America reading for decades with fantastic tales, well structured stories and amazing fantasies.

The film is the work of award winning documentary filmmaker Todd Kent ("Fast Food", "ToadSpotting", " RockHounds: The Movie ", " Road Does Not End "). Check out the film's website below:

My Blog

Where’s all the Iron Man stuff?

I don't want to sound like an alarmist, but some days when I go to my really dark, pessimistic place, I think that there just won't be an Iron Man Cereal this year. I know, I know, that's crazy talk....

I hate to cover old ground. Case in point: google "Star Trek: The Experience - Las Vegas" and you'll find any number of blogs, reviews and fan-blubbery about how cool it is, how cool the rides are a...

Scooby Doo Turkey Franks

I don't know why this one struck me as being so odd. It's certainly not the first Scooby inspired product. Plus, kids love hot dogs and kids love Scooby Doo. Seems like a natural fit. And yet ther...

Marvel Heroes Valentine Cards

I could never really get too excited about Valentine’s Day. I never had anything against it but it was easily a lower tiered holiday when I was a kid. It’s kind of like a funny beer comm...

The New Batman Fruit Snacks

It's true that I have an obsession with Super Hero Food that borders on "unhealthy" (mainly because the food itself is usually junk food). But I feel I've made steps toward recovery with the donation...

It's a new year so it's time to get back to work on the CBL documentary. I'm lining up more shoots and hope to finish up this year. But before I do, it's time for one last pointless outing. ALLERGY...

Macaroni & Cheese on a Stick

So "recently" (and when I say "recently," I actually mean quite a while back) I finally made it to an honest-to-gooddness Renaissance Faire. Now, granted, I live a fairly geek-fueled lifestyle, what w...
