I found myself intrigued by the songs and the production. These guys are quite good, and listening on headphones was kind of a treat, as there is good ‘ear candy’ there. I liked the changing textures and the percussion and it really held my attention.

The band Turnip Greens was formed by four friends and was based on their common interest in music from southern Louisiana and New Orleans. The band has released three albums: "Crosseyed Cat" on Cope Records and "Come Around" on LongLife Records and they have recently released their third album "Carry me down the Aisle" with the Dutch record label Black and Tan Records.
Way back in the South, turnip greens were considered a simple daily fare for the countryside folks. This simplicity is also to be found in the music of Turnip Greens.
We like to keep things rough and simple, states guitar player Peter Skjerning and describes the music as second line beat, or a bit like the sound of a handful of gravel in an empty barrel. Vocal harmonies play an important role in the Turnip Greens universe as well.
With a repertoire that spans from mostly original material to the likes of Dr. John - Snooks Eaglin - Delbert McClinton and Tom Waits, Turnip Greens are making their way into the Rock Roots and Blues music tradition of the US.
