Poor Billy from Denmark create their own gallery of characters in a dusty and scratchy roots music.
The recipe is very simple: A singer with a remarkable sense of textual universe, in a band where the chemistry and energy is present and tangible, and the music undiluted. With a strong influence from the Mississippi Delta, Poor Billy have created a unique piece of work with their new cd: "Moonlight stranger".
The genre Poor Billy explores echoes of artists like: Bob Dylan, 16Horsepower and Soggy Bottom Boys. The songs and stories have their origions in the universe of singer Karsten Olesen. And the audience can experience the music not only as entertainment, but as a vitale part of their lives.Poor Billy have excisted for seven years, and are a very productive and creative orchestra who love to create new songs."It..s like digging for gold. We dig and we dig. Sometimes we hit a vein of gold. So we also see our rehearsel room as a goldmine. When we find the gold, we leave the session as whole individuals. It..s that energy, we want to pass on to our audience."Poor Billy have played in concertplaces all over Denmark. They have had the song "Give it all back" in rotation in Danish National Radio (P4) and for the time being "Sct. Christopher" from the new CD is on P4. Poor Billy have also been "Band of the week" on www.mymusic.dk"Moonlight stranger" is produced at Lundgaard Studio with Thomas Alstrup as producer. During the production Poor Billy experienced the great pleasure of seeing the whole process forming as a synthesis.
The atmosphere was very tense, a quality reflected in the album, which radiates mysticism, power and nerve... real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
