About Me

TOP RATING FOR "SALVATION HARDCORE"! Read the smashing review: 5 out of 5"Richard Lindgren has made an album so damn good you can't believe what you're hearing. It is music that rests upon very deep roots. It varies between small, great stories such as "Bad News" and "After My Shadow Is Gone" and then he gives us rougher numbers like "Tell Louise". But the real highlights are "Portion of Love" and "Cold Heart, Cruel World. This is country music performed with the spirit of Hank Williams. Buy this record if you want to listen to the best country music ever made by a Swede".
Hans Bloom, Dalademokraten
Reviews: "The album is a collection of excellent songs. Salvation Hardcore is probably one of the best produced country albums ever released in Scandinavia"
Rune Häger / Rootsy.nu"Seductive, beautiful music with a tone of sadness that reminds you of the country tradition of the fifties. And just like "The Boss" Lindgren manages to administer the musical heritage and at the same time contribute with something new" 4/5
Dan Marklund / Pite Tidningen"A confirmation that Richard Lindgren is one of Swedens most talented torch bearers of the American songwriting tradition" 4/5
Anders Jaderup / Sydsvenskan

The Richard Lindgren story...
Spellbound by the words and music of Bob Dylan, Richard Lindgren a twelwe- year old boy decided to become a singer himself. Alone in his grandpas trailer he decided not to come out until he had completed a song of his own. It took a couple of days to get it down because he didnt know how to play the guitar but eventually three chords descended upon that trailer and three chords will do anyday. Richard learned his craftsmanship quickly and even in the mid-eighties you could find him hammering away on his guitar in some local bar in his hometown Malmoe. Throughout the years he formed different bands, such as Kettlefish, a group inspired by country music and Irish folk music. The band lasted a couple of years and then it was time to move on. Richard has always written his own material and in 1995 he felt it was about time he got a record out. Ignored by the big record labels he rented a studio on his own and recorded his first album, simply called Richard Lindgren and distributed it himself. This album is now very hard to come across and rumor says that not even Richard has a copy. In 1998 he set out searching for the ghost of Townes Van Zandt. He arrived on a Greyhound bus in Austin, Tx and stayed at a rundown motel on the outskirts of the city. For months he roamed the streets, wrote new material and played some gigs at some classic venues. When I once asked him if hed ever found the ghost of Townes he said I felt something at the Cactus Caf just as I was about to leave. Richard Lindgren spent the following years traveling alone with his acoustic guitar. These trips took him to stages in Austria and in the Czech Republic and especially in Vienna hes got a small audience who, when hes in town, rarely misses out on a show. During this period of time Richard wrote a lot of new songs and the time had come to release a second album. Postcard from Elsewhere was released in May 2003 and got some fine reviews though some thought it was a gloomy record. Lindgren toured on his own to promote the album and in Denmark he found an audience reciptive to his work. He now tours DK on a regular basis and hes formed a group with just danish musicians. Richard Lindgren has just completed his third album and it will be released sometime in the beginning of 2006. He is currently signed to Scandinavian Recordings and at the present hes planning the recording of a fourth album which will also be released in 2006. In different costumes Richard Lindgren has played support act to artists such as Robyn Hitchcock, Ryan Adams and Jayhawks. Sometimes on his own, other times with Swedish backing group Transcendents. In the summer of 2005 he did the PRE-SPOT tour in Denmark together with The Tiny and Norwegian singer/songwriter Ane Brun. Richard received the Fjellis award in 2005.
