--------
After completing a course of studies in classical music at the end of the 1970s, Jens Fischer was a co-founder of Tri Atma, a German-Indian formation and one of the first World Music projects in Europe. Later on he shared the stage with such bands and artists as Inga Rumpf, Georgie Red and Falco. He accompanied Eberhard Schoener, a composer and conductor, at his Satellite Concerts and multimedia events which took him to Tokyo, Bali and Sydney. While en route he played together with Australian Aborigines and a Balinese gamelan orchestra. Since 1990 he has composed music for numerous television productions, documentary films and radioplays. At the same time he has actively produced instrumental CDs for the Erdenklang label under his own name, as well as for other recording artists. In Metavista, his current solo programme, he combines acoustic guitar with a loop sampler and delay effects to form a quadrophonic sound. Flowing audiophonic surfaces and cascades of rhythmic patterns emerge in the process. Fischer uses these “waves†to literally surf on them. Following a concert given to celebrate his birthday, director Robert Wilson bestowed Jens Fischer with the title “the Philip Glass of the Guitarâ€. In 2007, Metavista was visualised within a three-dimensional full-dome show at the Mediendom of the Fachhochschule in Kiel, Germany.
