There’s something about this vinyl spinner that’s hard to put a finger on. He moves effortlessly from illustrious soul and funk tracks to up-beat hip hop, moves through some underground numbers and throws in some tracks you would expect to hear on late-night radio just to keep you on your toes. It might sound contrite to speak of a DJ as a musician, but Wave plays his music from the heart. He is all about the vibe. It’s clear that spinning tracks from well-loved LP’s is something he approaches like an old friend, and he is in communication with the crowd moving to his music. He gives them what they want, and keeps up when what they want shifts in mood. This guy knows how to put the funk in it.
