The Laughing Stock Of Indie Rock

About Me

Everything you know about Solex remains true: The one-woman juggernaut otherwise known as Elisabeth Esselink creates her percolating rock tunes out of samples and loops.
A new project called Solex Ahoy saw the light of day. With an old motor boat I sailed through all 12 Dutch provinces accompanied by musician / captain Bart van Poppel. In every province we picked up a few musicians (one by one) for an improvisation session that was recorded aboard.
Every musician was asked to improvise to a loop which was heard on his/her headset. At the end of this trip I’ll cut ‘n paste 12 songs out of these jams that will reflect the sound of every one of the 12 Dutch provinces. In that way you can look at it as an audio-map of The Netherlands.
The Nenuphar will now be towed on land for a few dabs of paint and I will cut 'n paste songs with head and tail during the winter months.
This project has been made possible by Het ThuisKopie Fonds.

The hardest thing of sailing through The Netherlands is reaching your destination before the last bridge opens or before you reach the last lock. Unfortunately we got stuck in the middle of some spook...
