... faking my way through the land of the living, into the sun and the sand that is sinking ...

About Me

Next in rank to the basics for living comes music and colour. I don't own a massive music collection I'm certainly not listist or completist. I do not play any instruments. But I will respond to sound and the right configuration can make me stupidly happy. Colour, whether natural or assembled by hand, excites my eye and mind. Good writing can blow me away.

CLUB NOIR - 16th August 2008 @ Edinburgh International Conference Centre. A bunch of us are going - will you be there? If so let me know and maybe we'll meet up. It is going to be fabulous dahlink!

Here's a few tunes that I like; when I'm done I change them for new tunes :)

And here are some vids.

"In spite of illness, in spite even of the arch enemy sorrow, one can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways." Edith Wharton

My Interests

music - dried, fresh or stir-fried
art - looking at or making up my own stuff
walking - occasionally not just to get somewhere
cycling when my prima donna of a bike deigns to actually bloody work
films - cinema, home, on the moon if it's good I'll watch
reading - a skill I learned at an early age and practise daily
having a laugh, living - that's mandatory, right?

I'd like to meet:

I will only respond to friend requests if they come with a message. After all it is only polite to introduce yourself. If you are using MySpace to sell stuff or to bulk up on numbers for an ego trip please don't ask me to be involved. I'm not here for any of that.

I extend my hand in friendship to those with a vital spark, compassion, a skewed view and sense of humour. Even more so if you can spell and construct sentences - skills which I appear to be losing as I get older! Along with the memory *sigh*.

I'm happily married with a handsome, talented husband and a beautiful, talented daughter. All close personal vacancies have been filled.

Music:

Radiohead. Nothing else comes close.

Music is my pleasure. I don't like pop pap. Give me something that has intelligence behind it and I'll wrap my lugs around and give it fair play.

Movies:

Probably my favourite film is As Good As It Gets . Class!

Some favourites:

Amelie
Before Sunrise / Before Sunset - the most intelligent modern films about love.
Big Fish - (or any work by Tim Burton)
The Big Lebowski - the dude abides!
Dogma
The Fisher King
Goodbye Lenin!
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Little Miss Sunshine Mars Attacks
Me and You and Everyone We Know - refreshing, quirky and damn good!
Mirror Mask
Moulin Rouge
The Science of Sleep
Snow Cake
Wonder Boys

Television:

Black Books
Green Wing
Heroes
House
The IT Crowd
Later with Jools Holland
Life on Mars
The Mighty Boosh
My Name is Earl
Northern Exposure
Scrubs
Seinfeld
Spaced
Taxi
Ugly Betty

Books:

Some favourite authors:
Clive Barker
William Boyd
Christopher Brookmyre
Raymond Chandler
Robertson Davies
Mark Helprin
Siri Hustvedt
Ann-Marie MacDonald
J B Priestley
Damon Runyon
Muriel Spark
Anne Tyler

Heroes:

My mother. For being the most amazing, strong woman I've ever known.

My husband. For the love, the anchor and the body part.

My daughter for being way cooler and talented than I ever was or am ever likely to be!

My brother for getting all the good genes in our family pool.

Paddy Gibson, John Forsyth, Murat Akyol, Jen Lumsdaine and all the tx team at ERI for their combined skills and faith which have given me a second chance.
