At the age of 12, Darren was first introduced to the dance scene when going to his first gig in Belfast, The Prodigy. From then on, he knew there was something special about the music and wanted to get involved, but it was from his first clubbing experience when seeing The Orb that he knew he wanted to start djing.From buying his first decks at the age of 18, Darren started to play all forms of house. He landed his first gig at the Basement Bar in Belfast warming up for Funkasaurus in October 2004In 2005, Darren entered into the Movida Corona World Dj Competition, to play a selection of his favourite tunes in the 10 minutes that each Dj was given. He went on to win the Basement Bar heat, hosted by Dj Chris Cargo, with a ‘Smooth set of US house grooves and funky beats’, Freeflow Magazine, Issue 4. He proceeded into the national final for Northern Ireland, held at The Potthouse, where there was a real party atmosphere but he was eventually edged out.
In 2006, Chris Cargo invited Darren to play at his residency at the Basement Bar, Rise. Since then Darren has been a regular guest for Rise, and has since further played at Fusion at The Whites Tavern, Belfast. He returned to Rise to play back to back with Gary Dickenson for a 3hour set that oozed of chunky beats and bleeps. Darren returned to the Movida Corona World Dj Competition 2006 were again, he won one of the regional heats and proceeded into the National Final for a second year in a row held at Skye. Darren has also been a guest for DertyFusion held at the Front Page, Belfast, playing back-to-back with Aaron Shim and Stevie Jones. And has also played at The Spaniard in Belfast.Darren has never wanted to remain as a one genre Dj and will play anything deep, funky, jazzy, soulful or jackin, blending the sounds. Depending on how the crowd is reacting, and wherever he is playing you can be sure that he is keeping a keen eye on the dancefloor.
