General Marc Antony

About Me

"Consider how much more you often suffer from your anger and grief, than from those very things for which you are angry and grieved."
~Born 83 b.c. in Roma
~Died 30 b.c.
~I was a Roman Army General and Politician who served Julius Caesar
~Cavalry Commander during Roman campaigns in Palestine and Egypt
~54 B.C. joined the staff of Julius Caesar's army during the Gallic wars
~An ardent supporter of Caesar
~Appointed commander-in-chief in Italy during the civil war between Caesar and Pompey the Great
~Later successfully commanded the left wing of the army during the Battle of Pharsalus in 48 B.C.
After Caesar's assassination, I ruled Rome until challenged by Gaius Octavius and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus
~We three formed the Second Triumvirate and divided the Roman Empire among us.
In 42 B.C. the triumvirate beat the army of Marucs Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus who hoped to restore the Roman Republic.
~To further cement the Second Triumvirate, I married Octavius' sister
~Meeting Egyptian queen Cleopatra, I followed her to Egypt.
~In 31 B.C. after suffering a defeat by the Parthians and no longer esteemed in Rome, I faced a new civil war where my armies and the armies of Cleopatra were defeated by Octavius near Actium
~In 30 B.C., after a major defeat in Alexandria and duped by a false report of Cleopatra's suicide, I took his own life.
