DEVASTATOR was founded in Hamburg in 2002 by Eggert Thode (Drums), Lennart Osterhus (Voc), Max Goronzi (Gtr) and Holger Stief (Gtr) with the ambition to create technically advanced, but especially brutal death metal. The Line Up was soon completed when bassist Stefan Hahn entered the band, and only after a few sessions the members had enough inspiration and material to play their first shows. Thus DEVASTATOR played on the Wacken Warm Up Party in Flensburg and other gigs in the local scene. In 2004 DEVASTATOR decided to enter the Fat Pound of Sound Studio for the recording of their “Demo 2004â€, where they hammered three songs onto tape: “Tortured To Deathâ€, “The Art Of Selfmutilation†and “Eternal Slaveryâ€. This demo got positive response and made new gigs possible, for example on the Wacken Metal Battle 2005 in Hamburg and the Love And Peace Festival in Duisburg.Due to personal reasons DEVASTATOR parted ways with bassist Stefan Hahn at the end of 2005. They found a new bassist in Falko Reshöft (Stormwarrior), who seamlessly integrated himself into the band. Now DEVASTATOR continuously developed their abilities and convinced their live audience both with their music and their extreme stage presence. In the local scene DEVASTATOR made a name for themselves and supported bands such as Nile, Belphegor, Vader and Eisregen. In the summer of 2006 the idea came up to record the debut album “Beyond Massacreâ€; this idea was carried out in the Thunderhall Studios (Stormwarrior) at the end of the year. The goal was to create a well-produced, varied and, most of all, brutal album… mission accomplished. In summer 2007 all work on the album was completed and it was sent out for mastering to Andy Classen at Stage One Studio. His final touch perfected the album and brought a crystal clear sound which exceeded all expectations. For the time being, “Beyond Massacre†has only been pressed in limited numbers for promotional purposes; the fan needs to exercise patience. Because Falko Reshöft had to leave the band due to lack of time soon after the completion of the album, Timo Richters (Uncreation, Negator) currently plays the bass for DEVASTATOR as a session member.DEVASTATOR stands for brutality and power, with no regards to anatomic boundaries.
