Vineta - sunken island
The Vineta concept is based on the idea of combining mythological aspects with present-day situations and realities. The geographical and historical relation as well as personal experiences, which are an important component for the development of our own indetities, caused us to choose Vineta as an all-embracing stylistic feature.
Vinetas highly developed society as well as its cultural and material wealth, short, its general superiority, shows many parallels with the present. Though, the apparently ever-lasting laws of creation and decay are existent and well-known, the will probably never be understandable. With perseverance, the Vinetians resisted the progressing Christianisation of Europe at that time. This is a sign for strength of character and an unshakeable certainty about their own history and culture.
However, all of this was no guarantee for an eternal and dominant empire According to the historical tradition, Vineta drowned in the thunderous floods of the Baltic Sea and has never been seen thereafter. Swathes of land which are absorbed by the sea are no legends any more if we look to the events in Asia. Natur is allmighty. It is the only God there is, in all its diversity.
There are many people, who deal with mythology and history, either to glorify something, to interpret history positively or negatively, or to simply set fairy-tales to music.
It is our intention to overcome all this and to formulate a concept which does not know any conventional boundaries. The open frame, if there is a recognisable frame at all, gives us the opportunity to illuminate this topic in all its shades, musically and textually.
