About Me
After 4 years of selling albums, writing, recording, and touring all major festivals (including many sell out shows) with his first outfit, 1200 Techniques, N’fa, spent 06 and 07 bringing his new solo vision to the nation.
Usually equipped with a drummer, an ITF champion DJ and keys player, N’fa toured his new ‘Cause An Effect’ stage performance across the country and rocked thousands of Aussie fans in the process. Premier festivals such as Splendour In The Grass, Homebake, Good Vibrations, Falls and Pyramid Rock all witnessed N’fa’s new energy, not to mention a rigorous touring schedule with international and national kings such as De La Soul, Souls Of Mischief, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Arrested Development, Butterfingers, Blue King Brown, his own “Block Party†national tour and many solo shows across Australia’s hottest night spots.
Its been proven time, and time again that its N’fa’s live show performance that continues to captivate crowds, and turn docile audiences into a frenzy of interactive receptors of N’fa’s message, and positive energy.
N’fa – some back story…
Distinctly Australian, N’fa’s background is of mixed race and mixed blessings…
1200 Techniques…
As the frontman of the hugely successful 1200 Techniques, N’fa (formerly N’Famas) became one of strongest voices and faces in Australian hip hop, the group being one of the first hip hop outfits to make a serious impact on the local Top 40. The ARIA award-winning group were no strangers to success. They sold over 50,000 albums and captivated audiences with their edgy, raw performances.
Through it all, N’fa penned the albums, with charting singles "Hard As Hell", "Where You At", "Fork In The Road" and the monster hit "Karma", which peaked at 4 on Triple J’s Hottest 100…
“1200’s was an amazing, and exciting chapter with great friends. The guys really helped me grow as a person, and as an artist, and I hope to write many more chapters with them and many other creative souls.â€
Get Up! ‘Cause An Effect’…
With 1200 Techniques taking a well-deserved break, the hiatus gave N’fa the time to channel his energy and talents into his debut solo album, ‘Cause An Effect’, sure to be regarded one of the highlights of the Australian musical year. Evolving and adding to the proven success of his unique hip hop formula, ‘Cause An Effect’ takes the listener on a journey of light and shade as it presents hook-laden anthems alongside smooth, reclining rhythms. In the artist’s own words, the album is “mentally and emotionally crossing the boundaries of standard hip-hop and connecting with listeners on its musical merit.â€
It’s testament to N’fa’s credibility that he has amassed a team of co-contributors that reads like a ‘who’s who’ of the hip hop industry. On ‘Cause An Effect’, N’fa has collaborated with producers and MCs from the US, UK, Korea, New Zealand and Australia including, Roots Manuva, Mr Yoshiaki (Black Eyed Peas), Peril and Deceptikonz (Dawn Raid Entertainment)…
“Creative souls led to the creation of Cause An Effect, which was not a planned production, but rather an organic movement of creative collaborations that resulted in an album. An album I am proud of, because I learnt a lot about myself, and people through its formation. I feel I have finally looked myself in the mirror and asked myself questions I had shied away from in the past. Questions to do with race, identity, place, respect, love, and purpose. These are all matters I had faced previously, but I feel now I have found a lot of the answers, learnt what habits I need to break, and now have a definite direction in life as an artist, and as a person. So many of us are forced to pick a side in society. A side that others have created to suit them, and not us. For example, being mix race, I have often felt like I had to choose one in order to suit a side. I won’t disrespect either of my heritage lines in that manner. I represent the middle path that so many of us want to walk, and are ready to walk. I won’t exist to suit someone else’s pre-ordained views. I will exist to walk, and represent a path that is right for all of us, from youths to elders, that feel the middle ground of balance is home.â€
To complete the picture, Hollywood superstar Heath Ledger and ARIA award-winners Michael Gracey and Pete Commins have been enlisted to direct the videos for first two singles, “Cause An Effect†and “Seduction Is Evilâ€.
The album is Cause An Effect; the artist is Nfa.
