About Me

eñor No was formed in Buenavista, the birhtplace of the hectic punk-rock scene in Donostia, in the spring of 1993, just after La Perrera split up, legendary band where Xabi (guitar & vocals) and Mikel (bass) originally played. Andoni (drums), formerly in Dead Movies and Imanol (guitar) joined them in their new project. You can find lots of influences in their music. The most important ones maybe learned from the strongest '70's rock (Stooges, MC5, Motörhead ...) and from '77 punk rock bands (Damned, Dead Boys, Ramones, Saints ...)In 1994 the band released a five track demo that soon caught No Tomorrow Records' attention; firstly, this demo was going to be a 7" single, but finally, these songs and some other new ones would be released that same year in september to be part of Señor No's debut album, being N.T.'s second major recording. This record would see the light at the end of the year and critics went from enthusiasm to indifference. Although the record's sound doesn't show the tremendous fury that the band can put forth playing live (undoubtly one of the most powerful live bands in the spanish state), is a solid piece of work, full of brilliant duelling guitars and several superb songs. From here on, Señor No works harder and harder, they play more often and release two new works in a 7" single (the unbelieveable "Mira mi dedo", which every Motörhead fan should know!), and almost two years after the first recording sessions would come their second album, "No Mundo". This is the Lp Señor No had inside their minds but wouldn't be able to release at the attempt, above all with respect to production. Tracks arise giving no respite (11 songs in 24 min.), the sound of the guitars is astonishing, covers are great (especially their Who's "Pictures of Lily" remake). A few meses after it's released, some critics describe it as one of the best recordings of the year, similar to what happened witn their debut album. From this moment, Señor No appears in quite a lot national and international compilations. In 98 the band releases two more 7" singles, con previously unreleased tracks and covers. Their activity is frantic and the band play unceasantly all over the state. In February of 1999, "No me hables" sees the light, being their third long play, a complete work that shows the greatness of the band, both composing style and production, polishing its sound without losing the intensity of its origins, which are live shows. Then they start touring the state until the end of '99. Through year 2000 lots of gigs take place and new tracks are released: covers for compilations, tributes and split singles. In 2001 Señor No leaves the record company, and joins Loli Jackson, Dover's label, belonging to EMI. Their fourth and definitive Lp. "Siempre te diré que no" is recorded in 2002, and it's unexpectedly produced by Carlos Goñi (Revolver) in his recording studios in Mojave, Valencia. In 2002 EMI had a crisis which made Loli Jackson suddenly disappear, and after considering other companys alternatives, the band makes the bold choice of self-producing the record hand in hand with GP Records, which is released at the beginning of 2003.Coinciding with the record releasing, Imanol leaves the band, and Gorka (Etnies) would be substitute for him until the definitive incorporation of Mikel Yarza (ex-Teen Dogs /Safety Pins) as a guitar player. This new line-up is responsible for the making of the double split 7" single, La Ruta Interior in 2004 (GP records) shared with the swedish Sewergrooves. This same year, Señor No records un unplugged Lp live at Bukowski and that has seen the light on Gaztelupeko Hotsak (from Gipuzkoa) in september. Some months before, Mikel (bassist) and then Andoni (drummer) leave the band, being substitutes for them Unai (Astrozombies) and Guantxe (ex-Teen Dogs/Vincent Von Reberb/Safety Pins) also playing drums for Lobo Electrico. With this new line-up the band gets ready for their first European Tour!THE BEAST KEEPS ROARING... THE LEGEND GOES ON !!!
