Growing up in a musical household, it was inevitable that The Bandit would become a mc. At the age of 16 he finally decided to pick up the pen and start writing his own rhymes after years of memorizing the rhymes of Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Biggie Smalls and Jay-Z just to name a few. In 1997 he joined the St. Maarten Hip Hop Foundation where he began performing at local talent shows and venues and appearing on countless radio shows on the Dutch and French side. Known to his peers as the “tall and quiet pardna†he quickly became “the pardna with the sick lyricsâ€. Spittin’ metaphor after metaphor, Bandit began to stand out among his fellow rappers. His first official appearance was on “DVH Vol.1†with the song called â€Step Upâ€. It was over a dark and grimy instrumental by Mobb Deep which defines The Bandit’s style. In 1999 he graduated from Milton Peters College (H.A.V.O.5) and left St Maarten to further his studies in the Netherlands.
After moving to The Netherlands to further his studies, music had to take a back seat. But he still kept writing and making songs here and there.
He and his longtime friends “Rukshun†and “Chaos†formed a group called “ForeignDialexxx†and they performed at numerous parties and events such as talent shows and rap battles. They also participated in “De Grote Prijs van Nederland†where they made it to the semi-finals.
While in the Netherlands he also recorded two tracks and sent them to St Maarten for them to be featured on the Cd “Paradise†of Deviage Entertainment. The songs “Double Barrel†and “Run for your life†were stand out tracks on the album.
During his time in the Netherlands he appeared on several radio shows in Amsterdam, Arnhem and Eindhoven and television shows on Omroep Brabant and TheBox. During various vacations back to his homeland of St Maarten he performed on various radio shows and at various venues such as Summer Fest where he open alongside “Solano†for Fat Joe and Fabolous.
After a hiatus from the game, in 2005 he decided to put music back at the forefront of his life. He started recording tracks for his first mix tape called “The Unstoppable Mix tape Vol.1â€. The name of the mix tape explains the style and flow of the Bandit. Metaphor after metaphor pierces your eardrum and have you saying â€I can’t believe he just said thatâ€. This mix tape was the first time in a long time that anyone heard from him so the first track opens with the line â€Niggas thought that the Bandit was dead but nah niggas……..â€. This mix tape has a range of songs from club bangers to street anthems. On this mix tape he addresses the state of hip hop on St Maarten and the rest of the world and represents his island to the fullest. In December 2005 he hooked up with his partner in rhyme â€Nemesiz†and featured in his video “The Remedy / My Clubâ€. This video was played on St Maarten and in the Netherlands on the biggest Urban channel called TheBox. He was also featured on C.A.P. Records “Tha TakeOva Mixtape Vol.1â€. Songs like “Nuff Tool†and “Cock It†had people talking and wanting more from the Bandit. This was the kind of exposure he needed for him to drop his mix tape. On 10-10-06 he dropped “The Unstoppable Mixtape Vol.1â€and as they say â€The rest is historyâ€.
