Rukshun a.k.a R-shottah
This netherlands born, caribbean raised,"Yard slang" representative,
takes you into the world of Hip-Hop with aHype blend of Island flows.
Certainly not new to the game, Rukshun,started dropping on beats at
the age of 7.In the district ofCayBay,St.Maarten, he found himselfquickly
moved by reggae dub riddims and"chanted" along with Rudy and Tito(CayBay Legends).
Known as "Rock MC", he performed at localsong festivals with the "Control Band".
Rukshun's brother influenced his musicwith the raw Hip-Hop element. Thisresulted in
Rukshun's local dialect usage ( Yard slang)to be put on Hip-Hop beats.In 1997 the
"St.Maarten Hip-Hop Foundation" was infull swing, and gave Rukshun and manylocal
Rap/Dancehall artists (named:ForeignDialects) a chance to shine, locally andforeign.
He started "Rampage Brodaz" with "TutpicMegalops", and switched names after the"Remedy"
joined forces. "Defendaz of the isle" wasthe last group Rukshun worked with beforegoing
solo.The foundation fell apart in 1998.TheRemaining artists under "Deviageentertainment"
dropped "Deviage Volume 1.".In thisperiod "U,me and that other guy" emerged.
Along with "Rising Sunz" and "Riders ofApocolypse" they dropped "Dutty bladescut deep".
In 2000 Rukshun left for the Netherlandsfor studies, and
along with "Bandit"and "C.H.A.O.S."formed "V.K.S." (Verbal Killing Squad).
By the end of 1999 "Deviageentertainment" called on all local andabroad "Foreign Dialects"
members to represent for a newmovement.The first official compilation of
St.Maarten rappers, "Paradise". In 2000 itwas reality.In 2003, Rukshun got incontact with
Jeff from "vinger.nl" at "MoFyah", one ofthe parties Rukshun hosted in theNetherlands.
The "R" project also known as "kill 'mDead" was brought out. This got Rukshunperformances
at local clubs in the Netherlands.The"Glorious,(Kill 'm Dead)" video wasRukshun's first debute on
National tv.In 2006 , Rukshun chose to goon for himself and joined forces with
T.M.N.( Tourmented Minds/Narcotics)."High Grade"and Rukshundropped "Parahigh".
Together with "T.M.N." he dropped hissecond solo project ,"the Fuck 'm Up"project.
After the passing of his cousin "Mack Tifie"in 2007, Rukshun's focus dropped back onmaking
music for himself and his long time dreamcame thru. "Bu'n Dem records" turnedreality.
In collaboration with "T.M.N." , "Bu'n Demrecords" launched "Same Way So".A brandnew project
grasping the two main flows of Rukshun,Hip-Hop and Dancehall.
Currently Rukshun works with names like"T.M.N.", "Endamorph" , "Primedia" ,"B.M.B.", "Deviage entertainment"
"Robba P" and Many more to come.
