Doug Medley - Christian Bass Player

At the age of 12 my musical journey began with the Sax, which I played for about 4 years in school. In the ninth grade, a band played at a pep rally at Berry High School in Birmingham, AL. I think it was Train but not for sure. That was when I decided that I wanted to play Guitar. I bought one the next day. Not long after I moved to Jacksonville, FL where I joined the Jazz Band and also had an after school band with Neil Champagne called Coconut Champagne. We played all over Jacksonville, FL. In 1992 I graduated and moved back to South Alabama. That is when Shelly Commander ask me to be in his band with Shane Owens. I played lead guitar for Silver & Gold, and Stampede. Then, in 1995 I switched to bass guitar and started a rock band with Jody Anderson and Wade Miller called LOC. We played together on and off for 8 years. Then in 2000 Jody Anderson and I started a band with Greg Griffen, and Michael Yates Called Severed Union. In August of 2001 I had a life changing experience and decided to leave the band to seek after the things of God. Now I use my talents to praise & worship the Lord Jesus Christ on a regular basis. I am a very committed christian, and musician. I like melodic bass lines that move throughout the song leading in and out from one chord change to the next. I guess I get that from being into Jazz / Funk music. I have a versatile playing style that includes funk, jazz, gospel, rock, country, etc. I used to attend church at Wiregrass Church . It is an awesome church in Dothan, AL that is in strategic partnership with North Point Ministries in Alpharetta, GA. I now attend church at Redstone Church in Birmingham, AL. The mission of North Point Ministries is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. For more information about North Point Ministries, Wiregrass Church, or Redstone Church, or listen to one of the many online sermons use the links in my blog "Wiregrass Church."
