Jake Eckert was born in Chicago & at a young age moved to Atlanta Georgia. Soon after, he was playing the local club scene with blues and southern rock acts. Jake then traveled to Berklee College of Music in Boston to begin his music studies. Following this, Jake attended Appalachian State University in North Carolina where he received his degree in music. After graduating, he began touring the Southeast with various blues, funk and rock bands. It is here Jake shared the stage with such artists as Derek Trucks Band, Merl Saunders, Col. Bruce Hampton and Marshall Tucker Band, to name a few. In 2000 Jake moved to Los Angeles . Jake has since recorded or performed with Larry Carlton, Robbie Krieger (The Doors), Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Marcy Levy (Eric Clapton),James Gadson (Bill Withers, Beck), Jesse McCartney (Hollwood Records),Gary Novak, Kina (Brownstone, Dreamworks Records) Kirk Joseph (Anders Osborne, Dirty Dozen Brass). Jake is currently the guitarist for Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Kirk Joseph's Backyard Groove, New Soul Underground & His own band, Jake Eckert and The League of Justice. He is beginning his self titled album in April 2007. This album will include his original compositions and feature some of his favorite musicians and friends, such as, Lee Thornburg (Tower of Power), Kirk Joseph (Dirty Dozen Brass), Kirk Fletcher (Fabulous Thunderbirds), Paulie Cerra, Travis Carlton, Josh Day, Luke Miller and Sam Meek. Jake has recently relocated to New Orleans to work with Dirty Dozen Brass Band and will be coming to a town near you...
