About Me

Hailing from Columbus, Indiana, Allen started playing the bass at age eleven. His playing won him several awards throughout high school, including the prestigious Louis Armstrong Jazz award. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to attend the Musicians Institute. There he received his Bachelor's Degree in Music and also won the outstanding student of the year.Since graduating in 99', he has done a diverse range of live playing and recording sessions. His playing spans the musical spectrum from jazz to rock and everything in between. Brian plays all types of basses. From a standard four string to a six string fretted and fretless as well as the upright bass. He is currently on the faculty at Musicians Institute. You can catch Brian on screen playing upright bass in the 2003 movie "A Mighty Wind" starring Christopher Guest. He was the house bass player for VH1's, The Making Of The Partridge Family in 04. Brian can be heard on the Grammy Nominated trumpeter Greg Adams "Firefly" and his newest release entitled "Cool to the Touch", as well as Universal recording artist Jamey Johnson's newest release "That Lonesome Song". Brian has also performed live with guitar great, John Scofield, Pianist John Beasley, Minnie Driver, Natalie Cole, The Temptations, as well as the Four Tops. He has also opened for Maroon 5 at Brixton Academy in London and the Apollo in Manchester with Epic recording artist Sara Bareilles. When Brian's in town you can catch him performing with The Toledo Show every Sunday night at Harvelles in Santa Monica, CA.
