Since it's launch in 2001, with a music policy that fits loosely under the banner of progressive sounds, incorporating what would traditionally be called Progressive House along with related genres such as House, Progressive Breaks and also Minimal Techno and Electro, Private Function built a reputation as Melbournes premier night for progressive sounds.
Along with residents Dean Millson, Aaron Roach, Gavin Martin, Steve May & Big Kev, PF has hosted a number of international guests along the way such as Steve Porter (USA), Habersham (USA) and Matthew Dekay (NL) & Omid 16b (UK) (all in their first Australian tours), as well as Chris Fortier (USA) and Australias biggest DJ export in Anthony Pappa. On top of this PF has also played host every one of Australias top DJs and Producers, such as Phil K, PQM, Luke Chable, Ivan Gough, Sean Quinn, Stuart McKeown, Dan Mangan, Keltec, Rollin Connection (Darius Bassiray & Daniel Banko), Vance Musgrove, Chris Meehan, Jaytech (Live) and Scrambler (Live).
As well as running our monthly parties, Private Function has also partnered with Future Entertainment & Hardware to provide rooms at some of the larger scale parties around Melbourne, such as Global Underground presents Dave Seaman (2002) & Sasha (2004), Deep Dish at Melbourrne's Metro Nightclub (2005) and Sunshine People on NYD (2004 - 2006).
