Shanita McNeil is an R& B and Hip-Hop Rapper, Singer and Songwriter. Born in Washington, DC, she moved to Southern Maryland at the age of ten, where she began private classical vocal training. Shanita is a classically trained opera and blues singer and has studied privately for nearly eight years. Her classical training and many recitals, as well as many years in Coral Programs, Community Theater and dance have groomed her to be a strong performer.She has always had a song in her heart; Shanita began writing songs and poems as early as six. At eight, in a Gifted and Talented Ceremony she was recognized by the Governor of Maryland for her poetry.Shanita had always dreamed of being an R&B singer and songwriter until she met a talented songwriter, rapper and producer Dylan Bier aka “It’s Easy.†The smooth melodic soulfulness of his style was a natural fit and made it easy for her to go from her blues background and gift of writing, to rap. Although, Shanita had been writing and rapping before they met, it was Dylan’s influence that helped make her a more diverse artist. They would spend hours writing, collaborating and recording. Those sessions taught Shanita to write on the spot, to have a clear vision of her songs and made rap her first love.Shanita has been blessed to work with great local producers such as, Ty -Up (TMG), Dylan Bier, John Robertson (Music 4 Life) and Relaxx (RealTraxx) as well as multi-platinum and Grammy award winning producers such as Steve Pageot, Vic Ceasar and Quincy “Q†Patrick who have worked with artist such as Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Luther Vandross, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Usher, Jay Z, Snoop, Dr. Dre, Bones and Babyface. Her exposure to and friendships with these long time industry vets has helped strengthen Shanita as an Artist.Shanita’s is currently in production of her of debut Independent album. This project truly reflects her versatility as a singer, rapper and songwriter; her album seamlessly combines the sultriness of her vocals as an R&B singer and the sexy strength of her message as a female rapper.
