About Me

Anyone who knows me, knows that music is and has always been my life and it will stay that way. My first proper influences were old skool Rap and Hip hop artists like Public Enemy, Run Dmc, LL Cool J, Eric B and Rakim, KRS one, Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince, Jungle Brothers and the list goes on. I was introduced to these at the age of 10 when i used to go and stay for the weekend with my friend who lived in Hackney London.

After the Rap scene i moved on to hardcore and rave music which we used to record from the radio; pirate stations such as Weekend Rush, Pulse and Kool fm. Even though i never knew what mixing was back then i started buying all the latest Jungle/Drumnbass vinyl and used to make mixtapes simply because i loved listening to the music. I got my first set of proper pitch control decks when i was 18 and taught myself how to mix with some pointers from friends and soon got the hang of it. I was a regular at Pure Science in Atomics nightclub, Maidstone, Kent every sat and Heat Hastings Pier and these places were what made me realise that i wanted to be a dj and one day play in a big club like those. I got my first break on a local pirate station"Juice fm" which i was resident Drumnbass DJ alongside Mc Bruno. having been heard on the radio i began to get a few sets from friends here and there, mostly warm ups with the occasional late set. It didn't take long for me to realise that for me to get better sets i would have to run my own night. This inspired me and after asking about in a few bars i secured a monthly night called "Regressions" in a bar called the Office in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. I managed to run for about 6 months until the bar changed hands and the new owners were having none of us running dnb nights. The only large sized music venue in tunbridge Wells at the time was the Forum and i managed to carry on "Regressions" using the Forum which held twice the amount of people as the Office did. My opening night had Nicky Blackmarket as the headliner and soon got the town talking. I went on to do many other nights at the Forum but as time went on the venue was so booked up at the weekends that i gradually stopped using it.
In summer 2004 i managed to blag a set, whilst on holiday in Aiya Napa Cyprus, playing Jungle alongside Mc Neat. After he and Dj Luck had finished their set in Abyss nightclub, Neat agreed to chat over my set. The following year i managed to play alongside Smokey from the Heartless Crew in Club Ice in Aiya Napa; i don't think the locals were too impressed by the jungle but the english loved it. On the same holiday i met an old skool producer, DMS from Production House who i played alongside in the Co Coa Bar, which he was a resident. He produced "Sweet Vibrations" with "The Boneman X" a classic Jungle anthem featured on "Drum and Bass Selection 2" on Breakdown Records.
On returning from holiday, my cousin, who was managing the bar at the Inigo Bar in Clapham SW11, secured me a monthly thurs set alongside Professor Stretch playing Liquid funk drumandbass. The mad thing about this night was that all the clientel knew nothing about drumandbass bar a few, but we got cheers and constant requests for rewinds when dropping vocal tunes like "Midnight" and other RnB bootlegs and soulful liquid dnb from producers like Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Hospital, Marky Roni Size etc. Sadly these nights were cancelled buy the bar/club manager and replaced with House music instead.
Since then i have secured another monthly Drumandbass night at the Inigo Bar (www.inigo-bar.com)called Re-fresh (every 2nd tues of month) which is co-run with Dj Rips who runs www.drumandbassworldwide.co.uk internet radio (myspace.com/ripsdj). I have an internet radio slot every 2nd monday 10pm till 12 alongside Dj Smartstuff and Mcs Deeza and Kid. Look out for me at Informal Dec 23rd which is run by dnbww, i will be in room 2 with Deeza and Kid.
My outlook for the future is to keep mixing and buying vinyl, as it is what i love and to keep trying to put my name out there. I also plan to marry my fiance Affie (myspace.com/affie1) who i got engaged to in January this year on her 21st birthday (in a limosine on one knee).
Along the way i have realised that i am a keen VW enthusiast so watch out for some pics of some phat modded VW Golfs/Corrados. I will be posting some pics of my own Golf vr6 highline very soon.Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor
