DJ TRICKY - KOOL FM

BIOGRAPHY..For DJ Tricky it began in the early 90s. The rave scene was already big and was hard to hide from because of all the illegal rave's and the tape's circulating from legal rave's and pirate station's in London. When the rave scene started to split, jungle hardcore was the obvious path to follow. Tricky fell in love with the beats, bass and samples used, and started to pay more attention to it and wanted to mix the sounds that he liked in his own way. So he decided to start buyin records and dabbling with turntables. It wasn't until 97-98 at the age of around 15 he could finally afford a pair of turntable's, with no help from anyone else Tricky taught himself how to mix and create his own unique sound and style. After a few years of mixing in the bedroom he wanted to play his selection out on a loud system, but it was hard getting slots as local promoters are tight, so Tricky linked up with a old friend who mixed and was in the same situation. They decided the only way to play on a loud system was to put on there own partys, the first one they did reached full capacity and they felt promoting nights was good for a lot of reasons and carried on and has played at various places around the uk. Tricky is a resident at Kinetic, Oxfords number 1 drum n bass event. Thru playing out Tricky linked up with DJ Trends who has been DJing in the same area for a while, both had been producing on and off for a few years, one day Trends came up with a name he wanted to use for production, so they decided it was time to start taking it serious. They have had 2 releases so far and been played on BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra and are now signed to Radical Beats, which will feature artists including Digital Era, Eddy Woo, Woodpacka, Erb n Dub, Nightbreed, G Dub & More. Tricky says "It's not easy producing, its like learning how to mix, it takes a lot of patients and time to form a sound, we are learning everyday. Radio wise, Digital Era appeared on DJ Sappos 1Xtra mix show as up and coming producers in October 2005. Tricky has always been interested in the radio side of things and has had shows on various stations and is now on the world famous number 1 Kool FM 94.5-94.6 doing the friday drive time show.For the future Tricky wants to keep pushing the Digital Era sound, and keep doing what he has been doing for years and hopefully reach more people on a global scale as he feel its all he knows.
