About Me

..
TO YOU - A Very Special Person - and to all my
BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS!
Thanks for taking the trouble to drop in.
Hope you enjoy the page and pics.

MY FAVOURITE QUOTE by Victoria Satir:
I believe the greatest gift I can conceive of having from anyone is to be SEEN by them, HEARD by them, to be UNDERSTOOD and TOUCHED by them.

QUOTE OF THE CENTURY!
From my friend PHILIP in Ireland.
"For me all that it takes for it to be a good day is that I awaken in the morning.
If I wake up, it is a good day.
If I wake up feeling wonderful, then it’s a good day in which I feel wonderful.
If I wake up not feeling great, it is a good day in which I’m not feeling great.
All it takes for me to win, is that I wake up.
Well I awoke today, and it feels good to be a winner."

YES INDEED!! Are you a WINNER too?
Especially if you are TRULY HAPPY!
Take our FREE and CONFIDENTIAL Personal Happiness Index Test (PHI©) NOW to find out!

As a writer, innovator, public speaker and executive director of DIVERSITY LEADERS UK, I have spent the past 14 years trying to make a difference to others through public recognition in my annual awards. Now I wish to make a difference to myself! Difficult to know how long one has left so it is time to stop and smell the roses while one still has breath! I must be the only woman in the world getting younger with each year. Being fearless in life, I refuse to let little trivialities like ageing or death worry me. Life is for living, says the old cliché, and I'm busy turning that into a fact!
The world is moving along so rapidly, thanks to technology, we have to dive in and enjoy it before we are left way behind. My main purpose now is to empower others through my life coaching and motivational expertise. For example, if you are tempted to see the worst before the best, why not change your outlook today and find something great first? It costs you nothing, you would make someone exceedingly happy and your world could become very powerful and magical!
GROWING OLDER DISGRACEFULLY
I am a warm, tactile, passionate, confident, independent person who enjoys every aspect of life and believes in NOW. The past cannot be revisited and the future might never arrive, so the only time I really have is TODAY and I intend to make the most of it. I have a cheeky sense of humour and prefer spontaneity, flexibility, honesty and open-mindedness.
As I am keen to enjoy every day of my life, my next book, 10 Easy Steps to Growing Older Disgracefully, which is due in October, reflects this. I do not wish to be any other age because my life at 25 was nowhere as exciting and enjoyable as my life at 50. One thing is certain: no genteel ageing for me - I'll be going there disgracefully and enjoying every minute, which would make me highly unsuitable for those clinging to their past, their little comfort zones and their ageist/racist fears, but perfect for that special, exciting soulmate!
12 LESSONS IN LIFE
To LAUGH is to risk appearing a fool;
To WEEP is to risk appearing sentimental;
To REACH OUT for another is to risk involvement;
To EXPOSE feelings is to risk rejection;
To place your DREAMS before the crowd is to risk ridicule.
To LOVE is to risk not being loved in return.
1. BUT...The person who risks NOTHING, has NOTHING,
does NOTHING - and is NOTHING.
Only a person who risks is truly ALIVE and FREE.

2. Never make someone your PRIORITY when to them you're only an option...
3. Never allow yourself to be someone's something when you can be someone else's EVERYTHING!!
(ANON)
4. When you make your mark, you will always attract some envy. Those who envy you will see your glory without knowing your story. But if the grass looks greener on your side of the fence, you can rest assured that the water bill is much higher too!!
5. KNOW YOUR PURPOSE. Purpose does not mean having a job. You can have a job and still be unfulfilled. A purpose is having a clear sense of who you are, not what you do. Above all, your purpose is not defined by what others think of you, but what you think of yourself.
6. A PESSIMIST sees the difficulty in every opportunity;
an OPTIMIST sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
7. The best things in life can never be kept. They must be given away:
A SMILE, a HUG, a KISS and LOVE."
8. LOVE DOES NOT THRIVE IN NEGATIVITY. It has understanding, compassion and empathy at its core. If you live in a culture where the men address the women as 'hoes', 'bitches' and other derogatory terms, just remember a key important thing: RESPECT does not come out of negativity either. It comes out of self-love. People who use those terms to describe their womenfolk are demonstrating their own level of low self-esteem, lack of respect for themself and disregard for their female relatives. With little self-respect, they are unable to love anyone else and will put others down to make themselves feel valued.
9. Don't be limited by other people's limitations.
10. Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.
11. Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Choose your words, for they become actions.
Understand your actions, for they become habits.
Study your habits, for they will become your character.
Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny."

Anonymous

AND FINALLY (from me)....
12. We do not overcome evil by becoming evil ourselves! In that awful moment of madness we lose our self-respect and our integrity, falling from the moral high ground of justice to land with a thud on the same low level of injustice perpetrated by our oppressors.

PROUD ACHIEVEMENTS
I am proud of EVERYTHING in my life so far, even the apparent 'failures' or setbacks, because they all combined to make me the resilient, knowledgeable and understanding person I am today. I learnt both how to, and not to, do things and that is very important to develop one's full potential. Trial and error have certainly given me some incredible skills and expertise. People who fear mistakes may not make any, but they won't move out of their groove of stagnation either, always remaining on the same fearful level, because it is through mistakes that we learn.
First of all, I am very proud of my two very talented children, despite current difficulties. They were magical in their teenage years. We'll all be surrounding each other again with love in due course. I have also been a pioneer with a number of firsts to my name: like the first Black graduate of the awesome Open University; the first Black woman to create and edit her own national magazine in the UK; the first person to address members of the House of Commons on diversity issues; the first to introduce two national awards to encourage harmony and inclusiveness in the workplace and to recognise outstanding achievement among individuals of diverse communities. My simple belief is that we need each other, Black or White, to survive, and only mutual RESPECT and being inclusive can save us all. So I am neither above nor beneath anyone else, because it is through other people that I appreciate my own strengths, purpose and value.
A NOTE for my FRIENDS and their COMMENTS
THANK YOU so much for sharing my space! I choose my friends carefully as I like to engage BEAUTIFUL people, especially those who don't even realise that they are very SPECIAL. Thank you for all your kind comments, but please keep any graphics SIMPLE and to a minimum for ease of viewing the site. The words are most important, not the trimmings, so if your comment is not accepted it could be because the graphics are not appropriate to this page. DO NOTE: Please promote yourselves in bulletins or personal messages, NOT in my friends comments. ANY CHAIN LETTERS OR OVERT ADVERTISING WILL BE DELETED. Real friends don't just use their friends for their own benefit. That is much appreciated.

My Interests

A LIGHT FOR PEACE!
Tuesday, 30th July 2006, the day of a major massacre In Lebanon of 34 children and 20 adults, begins this small tribute to finding peace in the Middle East. War does not cure anything unless it is fighting evil without the defendants being evil themselves. Life is a circle and whatever we mete out today, especially for those who use violence with impunity, we get back in triplicate later on. No one has ever thrived by annihilating other peoples because an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. Only Love conquers all. Not eternal hate.

This little candle will burn until the killing stops in the Middle East and our BRAVE soldiers return from their thankless battles.

10 Easy Steps to...
Growing Older Disgracefully!

The JOYS of Ageing and blasting the stereotypes!!

QUOTE (from the INTRODUCTION)
"To be older, without all those pressing responsibilities, is one of the most exciting periods in our life. A period which is seldom appreciated because of our perception of it, being brainwashed from a long time back that we should dread it and being haunted by the idea that we have only illness and frailty to look forward to with ageing. Yet, I cannot think of anything more sexy and formidable than to have great intelligence, wisdom and experience, and a wonderful, healthy, shapely body to go with it! Eat your heart out all those younger airhead ‘celebrities’ with nothing more than their looks! At the rate I’m going, I’ll probably be the only woman in Britain who will have to whip out my birth certtificate in two years’ time (when I’m 60) to prove that I am entitled to my free bus pass, and I am relishing the moments. In fact, I can’t wait to be 60! Am I mad, or wot?
For me, ‘disgraceful’ behaviour in older people is one which takes us out of our comfort zones, one that defies predictions and unchanging expectations; one that extends our knowledge, our boundaries and our reach to view life and approach it in a different way. It is an attitude that takes us to new vistas and venues, to new heights of pleasure and personal appreciation of the unique and formidable beings we become as we age; one that brings us firmly and unmistakebly in the modern era. In short, behaviour which helps us to defy ageing and regard it simply as a number marking the stages of life, instead of one that brings fear and dread and controls our living."

Steps To Happiness
Everybody Knows:
You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.
So:
You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first, and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.
Then:
You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due.
And you'll be a most vital mortal.
Dare To Believe:
That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And you'll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.
