Catechism's twisted schemes

About Me

Inspired by the craftsmanship of songwriters like Dylan and Drake, Steve Dagleish ditched a successful banking career in 2003 to pursue making music. Following songwriting workshops with Willy Russell and Ray Davies, Steve is focused on writing, recording and performing.Steve performed close to 30 gigs in 2006, including London's Bush Hall & Spitz, headlining at the Troubadour and the Betsey Trotwood. He also played at New York's Mo Pitkins and in a couple of venues in California before closing the year with a gig at Goa's Alpha Bar on Christmas Eve. Recently unstable through protracted morphine usage - spinal surgery should have sorted that - now vertical and opiate-free, a new album on the way 'The Morphine Diaries' and - at last - gigging again! Enjoy the demo's!BUY the debut studio CD 'Angel to Ancient' and "Live at the Troubadour" or purchase downloads from: www.dagelfish.comGabriel's Horn

Influences: From the Kilburn Times, London ...'I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.' There's a universal resonance to Dylan's lyric, but Steve Dagleish could be forgiven for thinking it was penned specially for him. As a teenager, songwriters like Dylan, Donovan, Burt Jansch and Davy Graham inspired Steve to take up the acoustic guitar and tour London's live circuit - he's back ...by Peter Kennedy
Sounds Like: From the Kilburn Times, London ... The folk/blues riffs echo Dylan and Neil Young, the Jansch/Davey Graham stylings are finger-picking good, elegiac strings evoke Nick Drake or George Martin. Measured against his mentors he's young enough to find a home alongside nu-folk and eschew the old folk variety for a while yet ... by Peter Kennedy
