John DeYoung & Naked Hearts

About Me

John DeYoung has been writing, recording and performing music nearly all of his life. He has played a variety of styles of music in various venues from small intimate clubs and private functions to concert stages. “The Dots” was an ’80s new wave rock group in which John was a writer, singer, guitar and keyboard player. Their many performances included popular L.A. clubs such as Madam Wongs, FM Station, The Troubadour, and many more. They also opened for John Hyatt and “Missing Persons” at the Santa Barbara Bowl. From ‘96 to the present, he has opened for or shared concert stages with the likes of Maria Mckee, Marc Cohn, Arlo Guthrie, David Lindley, Jesse Colin Young, Debra Davis and others. In 1997 John completed his first solo album entitled “Envisage”. In January of 1999, John re-connected with old friend, guitarist, Chris Smith. (Chris Smith has toured or worked in the recording studio with artists that include Jackson Browne, Jennifer Warnes, Johnny Rivers, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Herb Pederson and Mike Post.) They began recording more of John’s songs, and soon with the addition of percussionist Andrew Diaz Jr. “Naked Hearts” was formed. They completed the first “Naked Hearts” album in 2000 and have been working on new material ever since. Johns' recent creative efforts have been composing the music for the play "The Great Election" and rehearsing with Heather Rae for the live performances of the production which ran in Sept. & Oct. 2008 at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles. He is currently working on a new album to be released in 2009. This planet is a living being and we are a part of it. Plants convert carbondioxide into oxygen and rainforests are responsible for a large percentage of the oxygen we breathe. If everyone did this everyday, just think how much rainforest land we would save!Peace to the planet,John DeYoung
