The name says it all....XCLU$IVE....setting herself apart from the rest is not an easy task and thats just the way that she likes it. First nationally published for her poetry at the tender age of 11, people began to take notice. Then by the age of 20 she was already spitting bars for the likes of Mystikal & $noop. But the streetlife soon got her sidetracked. Now she's back in the scene as a woman ready to show that females have more to say than sex & money. Her natural writing skills and unique sound mixed with good looks & game have given her everything she needs to be XCLU$IVE. As a Louisiana Representer she is here to let the world know that everything down south aint country, and everything country aint simple. With her 1st mixtape "XCLU$IVE: The story of my life" she introduced herself to the game & with her first album "By Any Means" dropping late Feb. 07 she is ready to show the world why you need to take note and listen.
SYG: Are you signed right now?
XCLU$IVE: No, Im not signed!!!! Its not that I havent been offered deals but Im only going with someone that is going to believe in MY VI$ION and a team that is about getting the job done. Im not trying to be like Remy and owe over 500,000 cause I cant pay my recoupable money back, or like many other female rappers (I aint gon name you until yall come slick at me) and be signed for like 6 -7 yrs and be shelved cause you just simply didnt do what you supposed to!! Which is be able to make SONGS, kill a mixtape freestyle, look good in a video, and simply be someone ppl wanna hear. $o until the right opportunity comes Im gonna keep makin my music so when it does come I'll be ready. Dont worry yall it wont be long!!!
SYG: What artists would you compare yourself to?
XCLU$IVE: Umm to be truthful no one, but since everyone hates that answer I'll say that if i HAD to it would be Lil Boosie, T.I. , & Wezzy F. dont forget the baby (laughs) & thats because I feel like not only are they artists but they are also writers...I like the jeezy's and the lil jon's but me being a true writer I love an artist that pushes the limits and makes me think as a listener and that is what I would like to bring to the game
SYG: Alot of ppl say that with your looks your automatically not respected as a lyricist. Does that make you feel any kind of way?
XCLU$IVE: Does Flav feel a certain way knowing that he's considered the ugliest rapper? Of course it makes a difference especially being as though Im in a male dominated field. Men expect me to play into that role as a damsel in distress, but that is only people that dont know me. Anyone that has ever spoken 2 words to me can tell you that Im nothing like I look. Im into shit most females aren't!! I love sports, drinking beer, blowing chron, playing craps...whatever!! but at the same time i like to get dressed up, go shopping, get my hair done...its really an oxy moron but its me...Most people call me the prettiest nigga in the game (laughs)
SYG: With the game not really having any female rappers that are getting play right now, where do you think that you would fit into all that?
XCLU$IVE: Man is there any females getting play right now? In 06 with the exception of Shawnna & Remy there were no others getting play. My plan is to start with my album independentaly push a few units, then just completely flood the mixtape scene Im talking everybody from DJ Clue to the 1st time DJ's. Im not too good for any exposure. I just wanna build my name up this year so that hopefully by the end of this bitch I can go to a major label and just get a p&d deal.
SYG:So how do you expect to get play?
XCLU$IVE: By the grace of god...and just try to give the game a fresh sound. I think thats whats missing, it seems like all the females found a secret code and are sticking to that and not taking any chances. Me? I write from the heart and speak from my soul..so Im pretty sure I can grab an audience.
SYG: Where do you represent?
XCLU$IVE: Aww man I rep Louisiana all day baby...Gray to be exact...its close to new orleans...but its alot smaller....but I love my city....but I've lived in Cally & Philly for over 8 yrs back & forth so i rep for them too but my heart belongs to the real LA.
SYG: You talk so slick like you could game any nigga
XCLU$IVE: (laughs) My dad was the slickest man Ive ever met. I mean Im talking Benzs, houses,always fresh, kangols in every shade & style. He was just The man. He always kept me laced & in the know. So I saw how he acted and over the years I became just like him. He blessed me with my pimp swagger. & i chill around niggas constantly so I think like them but in a gucci dress (laughs)
SYG: You seem so calm & reserved. How are you onstage?
XCLUSIVE: Man theres 3 sides of Xclu...the one that is laidback, quiet, & aloof. One side that is a deep thinker and very intelligent always reading, she writes my shit (laughs) and then theres the side that performs: that chick is wild as hell, cocky as a mufucka, and just dont give a fuk!! She likes attention, battling, just really talking shit.Def puts on a good show though!!(laughs)
SYG: Well b4 I wrap this up is there anything that you want to say to your fans or your haters?
XCLU$IVE: To my fans...I love yall...yall are my motivation..everyone that believes in me...I thank each & everyone that just took out time and listened & man if yall fukk wit me now I gotta treat coming with "By Any Means" i just completely let go and just let loose. To my haters....def my motivation as well....yall fuel my fire...and let me know Im def doing something good. I want yall to keep me in your minds & everytime you look at me...know that I love you too...cuz i couldnt be on top without hoes like yall beneath me....Fuk outta here
