STEPHEN “RIKO” RODRIQUEZ CASON
Stephen Rodriquez “Rico” Cason is a native of Greenwood, South Carolina.
At an early age, he sang in the church choir and later became interested in music. During his intermediate level of schooling, he began singing on the choir. He has a deep and strong appreciation for music. He was in the ninth grade, when he realized that he was able to do more with his voice than most people. Others noticed that he had tremendous voice control. There have been times when he was astounded himself at the development of his voice.
In addition to singing, He plays percussion instruments and is currently teaching himself how to play the keyboard by ear as well as taking music lessons. He has developed a good ear for music. By doing so, it has made it easier for him to play the keyboard. He says, “I’m still not Mozart but gradually I am developing this hidden talent. It inspires me to sing and write music”.
In 1997 Riko teamed with three guys who wanted to form a group. their voices blended well. They sang at several Blues shows and church programs. With their peers, their group name, Fomo became very popular. In 1998 the group separated to pursue other interests. Later, he began to sing with just one of the group members. We also sang at shows. The both of them are still singing. He says, “We are dedicated to the music in a way that keeps us together.”
His plans for the future are to become a well known singer and musician. He is doing all he can to enhance his skills where it’s needed to become all that he can become as an artist.
He is surrounded by people who love to sing. His weekends are often booked with singing engagements for weddings and church functions. He spends a lot of time at choir rehearsals. He states, “The joy of music literally floods my soul. My love and trust in God has allowed me to be complete with myself.”
Riko has a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology & Engineering Graphics Technology from Piedmont Technical.
His hobbies are playing the keyboard, singing, playing basketball, and hanging out with his friends.
