At 16, Promise was featured on his first recorded album with Jerome Kyles and Divinity. Within the Gospel arena, Promise has also? shared the stage with the likes of The Cross Movement, The Truth, Donnie McClurkin and Dorothy Norwood, to name a few. •Have written over 30 full songs ranging from Rap songs, Gospel, R & B, and neo soul records.Background:Influences include … Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Musiq, John Legend, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Earth Wind and Fire, Luther Vandross.Promise was born into a musical family – Promise’s father (John Matthew Borders III) was a member of the 70’s R & B group-The Energetics, managed by Maurice Starr. The group later signed a deal with Atlantic Records and released a number of successful albums for Atlantic Records.Promise earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Morehouse College. With the music industry as his target, his goal is to successfully captivate audiences with his music.In 2007, Promise developed The Writers Block Group (WBG). The Writers Block Group is a collective group of writers that specialize in concept development, writing song lyrics, developing stage plays, screenplays, sitcom pilots, scripting video treatments, and even penning music production.
