Truth Documented is a jack-of-all-trades. The six foot tall, chocolate skinned, cornrowed musician / model / actor / presenter / artist is one of the few people that is truly blessed with an array of talents. His is also one of the few memorable vocals in the British Hip Hop scene.
His gruff flow does not match his look but then there is nothing conventional about Truth. The people’s champ; he is the voice of the oppressed and voiceless while also being able to represent the upwardly mobile. It follows that the jack-of-all-trades is at the same time sweet boy, thug and conscience rapper.
Born and bred in London Truth began honing his lyrical skills almost a decade ago; spitting on instrumentals and putting together tapes for people on his estate. The tapes spread like wildfire and T.D.H (Tall Dark n Hansom), as he was known then, began meeting people interested in his sound and whole image. The contacts he forged opened the door for Truth to begin chasing his dreams.
Most recently, Truth has hosted a pilot music news and reviews show in which he interviewed and ciphered with the likes of David Banner and SAS. He has also featured in a number of videos from independent artist Soul Nana to his own video as part of the West London collective Darkside. The collective which have now gone their separate ways were one of the first rap crews to have their videos featured on Channel U. This year T.D. had a minor role in an independent British movie shown at the Cannes film festival. The movie 'Whisky & Denial' is due out in ’07 so keep your eyes peeled.
Happy to play out his life in front of the cameras the 20 something Londonite really is Truth Documented. “I’m not afraid to tell like it is… I don’t have a problem with saying I’m wrong or telling you when I’m right,” says the multi-talented emcee.
Truth is also not afraid to get involved behind the cameras. And the emcee also forms one half of Silver Hawks Management. The company, which has Soul Nana and NoWay on their books, represents some of the best up & coming urban talent from West London.
Not content with just breaking into the media industry the design grad has put together exhibitions of his work which have caused a stir among certain art circles. His street-manga inspired art pieces are doing well in Japan and Dubai and plans for a London show are in progress.
So what is the next scene in Truth’s documentary? Well you’ll just have to watch this space. One thing is for sure though: you’ll be able to hear Truth Documented on the ‘Ride Out’ Only Fools & Verses compilation mixtape.
